I've got a recirculating pond on my back patio. When we put it in, I went to the supply house and was very clear what we were doing. They sold me a sump pump with "x" GPH capacity.

Installed and all was well. burned pump out a year later, put larger horse power pump in and about doubled my capacity, wife was loving it.

THAT pump died... this time, I went to same supply house and they're selling me same thing but have to order it. Ironically, I took that as my chance to do some looking on the internet only to find out they've been selling me the WRONG kind of pump all along.

I do not need a sump pump, I need a continuous duty pump!!

I finally got my CORRECT pump and it's capacity is going to be 4000 gph but I have one itsy bitsy issue...

The physical output on the correct pump is different. It's on the SIDE of the motor instead of on the bottom like the sump pump.

This means, I've got to reconfigurate ( :D ) my schedual 40 pipe but the truth is, I don't really have the room.

I made the pump to fit as tight as I could when I first got it and now that the pump format has changed, I've got an issue.

Ok, so what I'm looking for is a 1 1/4" 90 degree schedual 40 elbow HOWEVER, one side of it MUST be a female threaded side. This is so it can thread directly onto the pump and turn my waterflow.

I have some fittings but by the time I stick a screw on and then a 90 degree, it's too long. I need to make it as tight to the pump as I can.

Anyone know if they make a 1 1/4" 90 degree schedual 40 elbow that has threaded (female) ends on at least one side? The other side can also be threaded or solvent, matters not.

If not... any other tricks that I'm not thinking of that I can use to turn as quickly as possible?

Richard you need a threaded slip bushing(SLIP X FPT)to go inside the 90. I did a quick google searc and could only find one that would adapt to a 1" thread and slip into a 1 1/4" 90. So if you can find one great but, if you can't you could go with a stainless fpt x fpt 90. Just a thought.:)

Whynot, you hit it on the head!!!

I drove into town last night (20 miles) to go to Home Depot. I KNEW they carried a small amount of 1 1/4" stuff but went anyway.

During time there, I finally figured out the 1 1/2" routine with a bushing inside it!!! I need to step up to 1 1/2" anyway because that's what's plumbed into the pond so it worked out beautifully!

Here's another question for you (anyone)

The pump has 1 1/4" outlet with threads. I'll put the bushing onto them... can I screw the bushing directly on or would you advise I use some teflon tape on the threads? (I bought some FOR that purpose, just curious if I was right)

always use teflon tape
