Ok, I have just acquired a disc plow and need to put some weights in the trays.

Does anyone have pictures of their home made disc plow weights that I could look at to get some ideas?

You won't need pictures of my implement weights as they are rocks. If you can't find any locally, I'd be happy to send you some free, you pay the shipping, no handling charge. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Certainly just big rocks.

Many trays are built to fit a typical building block or 4.....

I use old cylinder heads from old car or truck engines seam to fit in weight box good and you can wire them down thru the bolt holes so they don't bounce out on rough ground

Now I feel like a dummy. I went to a scrapyard and spent $50.00 on 260 lbs of Universal Gym wieghts. The plates were 20 lbs apiece and had big holes in the middle for posts that I welded on to the implements. I'll bet cylinder heads would have good weight, plenty of holes and be a lot cheaper. Another poster used cut train rails and welded it directly onto his implements (that way you could also have an anvil out in the field if you needed one)

I had some old rail road irons and cut them to fit. i then cut me a holes for some 1/2 " bolts and attached them to my disc's. worked very well just looks like a train could go across my disc's.

I'll try to post a pic of the disc I made last year. I too needed weight. So I cut a 50 Gallon drum in half...bolted both halves to the frame and now I can fill it wiith whatever I need. So far I have a lot of old brake discs in there. I pla to put gravel in next to make it all "look pretty." Now I need to weld some new (thicker) attachments for the lowere arms...mine are bendin' a wee bit /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Egon, I think we are just old enough to have seen depression inspired equipment. Nowadays folks don't have that advantage. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

That may just be true Slamfire. Think you have a couple of years on me.

Talking about old equipment; seen a very light weight brand new single bottom plough that had two wooden handles on it and a place to attach the single or double tree sitting in the back of a PU.
