Oil & Fuel please help

Just purchased a 1983 b 7100 hst d.Transmission pulled good till it got hot,then started slipping,so I looked at the fluid and it was caramel colered.Bought new fluid and filter changed them out. Now tractor will not go forward or reverse.

I can only offer a few basic suggestions for you to consider. 1. Did you also change the transmission filter and screen (if your model has them)? 2. Did you replace with Kubota fluid or another brand? I believe fluid is not all created equal. 3. Does your PTO function (just to check if it痴 a transmission issue or hydraulic pump problem?

Hope some of the suggestions help you or encourage others to offer better diagnostic advise.

This tractor appears to have a suction screen filter on the FEL Hydraulics and on the HST Hydraulics the HST also has a spin on filter. Here is a PDF of the parts for your reference.

Armed with that information I would look at the suction screen it could be clogged with debris. Do not keep running the tractor starving the HST for oil it will destroy the HST. You can drain and reuse the HST fluid if you put it in a clean container and pull the screen out and clean it. I opted to just replace it. The screen for my BX1500HST was about $12.

Did you allow tractor to run at slightly above idle for 10 minutes or so before attempting to use hydro? Kubota's service manual recommends this procedure as it allows the hydraulic system to bleed out the air before you use any of the hydraulics/hydro.
