hi, i'm trying to find some information for my mom. she has a 1955 300 utility. it need the brakes adjusted. does anyone have a link to directions as to how it can be done. she has no brakes at the moment. please help. she will need to use it again day after Christmas. thank you all very much

You need a service manual, but doubt you'll get one delivered by the day after Christmas. They're only about $35 and essential for a lot of folks to keeping old iron going.

They are pretty easy to adjust. Look for bolt #31 after opening the link below. Turn it clockwise to adjust up the bolts, assuming there is some adjustment left. Might try backing the bolt out a bit CCW before you try CW, to make sure it's not fully adjusted up.

Those brake discs seem to be a little waxy anyway. If you have plenty of pedal, then they probably need to be taken out, and the surface cleaned & roughed up with sandpaper. Something like 100 grit, and lightly sand them. A can of spray brake cleaner will clean them up. 5-6 bolts, after removing the adjuster bolt first, and the whole unit comes off in your hands.

If you see oil seeping out towards the bottom of the brake housing, could be the seal is worn on the bull pinion shaft. If that is the case, you'll need to clean the disc's for sure. If funds are short for the moment, cleaning & roughing may get you by for a while, but I'd make it a priority to fix it right in the near future.
