In anticipation of working the farm this year I rented a tractor with a front end loader and rotary cutter 4 or 5 times to maintain and get a feel for what I needed. It was an open station with no canopy. I determined that a cab with a/c was going to be a necessity.
As to the concern regarding branches hitting the cab glass, I will only be mowing the pine middles until they are 6-8 years old. At that stage they are not tall enough or branchy enough to cause damage to the cab glass.
Jeff, I appreciate your concern about possible injury, but this will be my post-retirement job.
Been working since age 8 and don't have the desire to take it easy in a rocking chair.
