Pipe jacks or whatever else

I was in the shop this evening and had to move them put of the way. Thought y'all might get a kick out of them. I know that this something I could've bought, but none of my lws are open normally we I need them to be. The shaft is 1" allthread , the legs are 1 1/4" sch 40 pipe, and the body is 2"X2" sq tube. So far they have worked well. I might have to buy a store bought one to compare it with one of these days.

I'd take those Jacks any day. Could have used them on my Outdoor Wood Boiler Pipe Extension. I ended up using channel laid out on my welding table. Jacks would have been much easier. :thumbsup:

I bought a pair from HF. I would have made them but I didn't have the lead screw or the bearing. I needed a set for under my 2 post car lift so the ones I got go up to 8' high. But that means they only go down to 4', a little high to use for other shop projects so I may follow your lead and make another set and just transfer the lead screw from one to another. Nice job.

Crazy Al I didn't use any bearings. I'm in the plumbing business so I keep all my drop pieces of black iron for projects and such.

Jack stands are as handy as a pocket on a shirt. I've made several, and bought a few.

I used to build some really big gates that were a bit longer than my 20' table would handle (up to 54') and adjustable stands worked fine for keeping everything straight and level.

A friend who owns a sprinkler business made some using steel wheels from a car as the base and two pieces of pipe, one slid inside the other with a nut welded to the outside of the outer one and a bolt to tighten it up.
