I'd saw those, lol, in a new york minute.

Location?

Try posting in some of the sawmill forums, lots of people looking for free logs, if you are geographically situmacated.

A youtube program I watched says small mills in many areas can get their lumber inspected, or even get certified to inspect their own. I'd put them on Craigs list and F.B. Marketplace, and let someone else haul them home. That is a shame to wast such nice logs! Those probably aren't from someone's yard, and are unlikely to have nails in them, the bane of real sawmills!

One other fun fact, is that Douglas Fir is a great wood for building things with, including trim.
I've mentioned this before, but I'll do it again.

Before I was born, my father built his own home here in Indiana. He ordered an entire train car loaded with Douglas Fir and California Redwood, and some quantity of plywood, from the Pacific Northwest and had it shipped here to a lumber company. He worked out a deal with the owner of the lumber yard where he could store the car on the lumberyard's siding while he unloaded what he needed to build his house, and sold the rest to the lumber yard at below cost. He used the fir for framing and roofing, and the redwood for trim. The plywood was used for some gusseting in his building system. Financially, it worked out very well for him. Aesthetically, it was beautiful. Structurally, well, the house is still there. (y)

Have pine logs galore from the lot clearing and I don't know what to do with them?
Average 16 to 24 inches in diameter.
Don't have a dump trailer so I can't take them anywhere.
Contacted a couple lumber places and they weren't too interested since they were pine?
Any sugesstions or ideas would be appreciated.View attachment 699958
Hey! Whereabouts are you located? I’d definitely take it for firewood if you’re close to me! 😊Thanks! Patti

Are you near Charlottesville? I'm near Harrisonburg and may be interested in some, if not all. How long are they? My trailer is only 16 feet, but I might talk a friend into coming, with his 24 footer.

In the sixties when my neighbor cooked on a woodstove, I believe she used pine in it for a quick, fire and hardwood in the space heater for longer burn time. She also made her own lye soap and washed clothes in a wash pot, in the back yard.

I'm astonished that no one seems to want them. I sold the timber off my 26 acres in Arkansas, and it was an excellent windfall. Twenty-four inches is close to maximum size at the sawmill where it all went. The bad news is that anything smaller than 8" got cut off and will rot where it is, because there is no market at all for pulpwood in that area. But before I cut it, I would have called around to see if there was a logger in the area who could at least give you $20/ton, which is about $400 per truck load. That is not the amount he's getting; he is making his profit out of the excess over that.

Do you have a way to dig a fire pit that would allow you to drop maybe eight or ten logs into it. You could burn them in the pit and it would be better and quicker than burning above ground. Stage the other logs so you could just push them in as the fire intensifies and burns down. Make sure your have plenty of brush on the bottom to get it started good. You could also use a leaf blower to get it hotter in a shorter period of time. I had the same issue with just as many stumps. I thought it would take weeks to burn but was gone in two days. Logs would go quicker if they are dry. Afterwards, just cover the hole and you'll never know. Cheapest way by far.

A hobby sawmiller would be a great way to go. Nice logs, easy access, and you have handling equipment. Make whatever deal for boards or 2x? with him or her or just pay for milling if you have a place to stack them for drying. The price of lumber isn't going to drop any time soon!

Paper mills will want them. Don’t cut them unless asked to. They’ll want them more it you drag them out and stack them all up
