Could it be that this will be the winter that we will all get to use our snow removal goodies. The pattern is trying to set up that way especially for the east coast and Midwest . Cold snowy and a cabbed tractor what could be finer. Rear blade with hydrolic angle TNT front blade! I suppose I can dream

Could be...I've seen the same longrange forecast predicting higher then usual precipitation with colder then normal temperatures...all along the East Coast from Florida to southern NYS. Might be an interesting Winter season.

Looking forward to a cold winter with lots of snow. We are ready to get the plow on the New Holland. and get to business.

they predicted a colder and wetter winter for us LAST year....... didnt happen. Didn't even come close.

It was alot less snow and alot warmer than usual. I only got to hook up the sleigh to the horses ONE time. it sucked.

That's because I went out and bought a brand new snowblower in November....used it once on an inch and a half of snow all winter.

Here's my snow weapon. I also recently made a 3 point hitch SSQA adaptor so I will likely also outfit my Deere with my 5 ft landscape rake. All I think I need are some tire chains.

this will be my first winter with my new tractor. I really don't need any more snow weapons but I am wondering if I will need any rear ballast on my bx2660 with a front mount blower??? If so I was considering either a box (I hear they are easier to manuver with) or a 5' rear blade. I could either with the FEL which I use for summer projects.

Maybe I will get the time to get all the weapons out one day and take some pictures

The ballast box, being more compact, is definitely easier to manuver with. With a blade or almost any other implement, you really need to watch the rear when working around cars, buildings and such.
As far as "will you need ballast", that's really hard to determine, but I expect you'll find out soon enough.

There is a major advantage of the rear blade (over a ballast box). You can pull snow away from a building...something you don't want to approach too closely with your blower.

A blade for a BX will add on around 200lbs-250lbs but it does hang back farther than a Ballast box so it would be more effective than a Ballast Box with 200lbs in it. You could also rear blade to move snow and you would have a another implement for projects. You could also make one of these for a ballast.
