Pickup bed trailer

/ Pickup bed trailer #11
I built one out of a 75 Ford 3/4 ton. 20 years ago and still use it. It cost me over $1000.00 to build it, but at the time was a lot less than a commercially made one. A heavy duty surge coupler was the biggest expense. It has a 7000lb jack on the tongue, load e tires and has commonly carried over 6000lbs of gravel or concrete rubble. I cut off the axels and re-installed the caps, packing the bearings with grease. It tows great and wouldn't hesitate to recommend one if it was a decent job.

I have a '90 Ford F150 truck with a fairly good box on it, the interior was protected by a liner after I purchased it at 3 years old, I have a Ranch fiberglass cap on it. For the age, it is pretty solid...I thought at one time about parting the front clip of the truck out and having the back half made into a utility trailer...and using it to carry heavy stuff like gravel and sand. I have an open aluminum utility trailer but it can only carry about 1500 pounds. Can anybody give me a rough idea of what it costs to have a pickup box cut off and welded up and a standard 2 inch hitch installed? Thanks.
