Not a business, just a hobby with a skillset that happens to be in demand. Along with a bit of machine work thrown in for good measure.

Very nice. Any pictures of what the finished product looks like at a clients home?

The plates seem to be laser cut, pipes are cut to length. The drilling jig works without clamping, drill reposition and repeat. I use my Grizzly G0720 bench mill. Drill 7/16 hole without pilot, one shot. Just over a minute per plate. Table does one rpm, welding time. Using flux core, buff with a knot type brush, another minute. Lay them on a rack, roll the pipes while giving a shot of Rustoleum cold galvanize coating spray. Five minutes to spray 20. The hard part is moving the darn pipes five times. Turned 69 this year, slowing down. Doing it for $ 8.00 per pipe, roughly $ 50 or so an hr. depends how energetic I am that particular day.
Not bad, I would think that drill time would eat up most of the time to complete. I certainly couldnt drill 4 ea. 7/16" holes in less than one minute per hole. I would have to use a pilot hole with my little cheapy drill press, I am thinking about 2 minutes per hole. Welding time about a minute and a half, 10 minutes per post minimum. But if I got a money project, I could invest in a good drill press to cut that down to like your estimated time.

You could switch to MIG and then skip the buffing.

Drilling with my jig in the mill is quick. Long story on the electronics on the mill crapping the bed, but replaced the motor and electronics with a three ph and VFD. I don't grind off the galvanizing on the pipe, mig with gas doesn't work with it so flux core is used.
Don't have any pics of their work, all professionally done.

What you want to see is a bit different than what you read. Funny how the mind works.

Well at least my mind read it as enhancement.....(was thinking along the lines of a tan or slimming down) and not ENLARGEMENT.

Are we going to see a new set of tv commercials with “Smiling Big Barn”?
