I was searching Ebay yesterday for small, low mileage cars, and I came across these...

1987 Subaru GL is under the ID "goingforglory"

1984 Honda Accord is under the ID "waterairland"

1986 Toyota Camry is under the ID "landwaterair"

Each one of these ID's are in the Washington DC area, each user has registered in the past couple of days, with zero feedback, each seller has other low mileage cars available, and each listing has similar starting bids (1984 vehicle starts at $19.84, 1987 vehicle starts at $19.87) and deposit and payment terms.

Does anything seem fishy, or is it just me?

One more...
1980 Volkswagen Camper

Again, similar starting bid (1980 vehicle starts at $19.80), Washington DC area, similar payment terms.

It seems the same person is selling on Ebay under at least four different ID's. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Maybe you should report these to eBay for them to investigate? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Those listings do look odd to me.

My experience with ebay is that they will put their head in the sand even if the fradulent activity is obvious. I reported an obvious case of shill bidding once and they said they could see no evidence even though one bidder bid on every single auction that the seller ever listed. Of'course, every once in a while, the shill bidder got stuck and won the auction. These items were always relisted. The shill bidder was quite active but had zero feedback.

Ebay is starting to listen to scams. They dont care if a dealer is legit and custoimers are unhappy but real scams are getting them bad press. Drop a note to safe harbor.

AndyM, did you notice the names of the ebay sellers? All of them are 3 words strung together. Coincidence? I think not.

going for glory
silver green blue
land air water
water air land

something is fishy

Junkman, I'm not sure which one he is bidding on, but I think it is being offered for sale by:

I'm a thief

or his brother who sells under the ebay name:

you get screwed

your right about ebay not caring about happy buyers or sellers, about 6 weeks ago i purchaced an item from a guy that had 100% positive feedback, paid immeadiatly with paypal, and never received the item. 4 e mails and 3 telephone calls to seller got no response. filed a fraud report with ebay and have not heard from them . looks like i am out the $36 + shipping . /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

His cousin "singin for joy", with a zero feedback rating, is currently running up the bidding on the Honda.
I will be watching to see if he gets stuck winning his own car and has to get it relisted! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yeah. Several years ago 50 bids would move an item into that 'featured' category at the top of the page.

I bid an auction and within an hour there were over 50 bids from two other bidders, both at the seller's ISP. One of them only bid this guy's auctions and had won a few. The first time he won they had exchanged positive feedback "quick payment" and "quick shipping" within 30 minutes of that auction's end! The other bidder had bid on most of his of his auctions also.

I notified ebay that this looked like a clear case of shill bidding. Of course I got a form letter back, 'no problem noted'.
