Pat's Easy Change Ordered

Finally ordered my Pat's Easy Change. Shopped online and found the best price to be from Rural King. Easy Change with spreader bar and three extra sets of washers was $181.96 plus $10.92 tax for a total of $192.88. No shipping charge! It has already shipped and should be here tomorrow or Monday. I will let everybody know how ordering from Rural King works out.

Just started using mine.
So far, so good.....and makes hooking up so easy.

One learning curve: My post hole digger (PHD) is Cat 1 (can't change welded pins) and the PAT's are CAT 2. No problem says I, just add a conversion bushing to the PHD pins, now they're Cat 2 and off I went.
The PHD in rocky ground(!) was a good test for Pats.... BUT I forgot and used the CAT 2 "special 1/2 washers" that came with the Pat's, that protect the retaining clip that goes through the PHD's pins. What I didn't notice is there's just enough slop in those washers on the Cat 1 pin that when the PHD finds a rock and bangs around, the washer can sneak past the bottom of the retaining clip and unlock the clip and send it flying. Now I'm watching a rotating post hole digger banging around in a hole & it's only hanging to the tractor is by the top link and the PTO. This 1 point hitch doesn't work well!

I went and bought some "full circle" washers with a 7/8" opening (Cat 1) and used them and no problems.

I have a set of Pat's QH, but I have been using my H.F. Q.H. for so long, I decided to go back to that. I have the Pat's on Craig'sList for $125. No bites yet. I should use Ebay, but I hate the monthly fee they charge.

Do yourself a favor and buy some grade 8 bolts to replace the ones they ship with, they are super cheap and can bend. mine bent and they shipped me gold color grade 8 which are so much stronger. The manufacturer has awesome customer service but using a stronger bolt would prevent things. The easy change system rocks.

Grade 5 bolts should work just fine also.

The Rural King total delivered was $192.88. Agri Supply did not have free shipping. When all was totaled up they would have been $204.77. Or nearly twelve dollars higher for the same thing. So I went with Rural King.

Mine worked fine with a bush hog planter, disc, tiller etc but didn't work well with a box blade that's when the bolts bent. Just a suggestion

I'm not very familiar with Pat's easy change system but one might be careful not to use too strong a bolt causing a more expensive failure if it doesn't bend/shear.
