This was my project for 2007. It came out better than I expected and the tractor saved me countless hours of labor/back pain. All the large rocks on the outside wall cam from my property. I am open for suggestions on improving my lawn. I am not sure if I should get a tiller, box scraper etc.

That did come out nice! I really like the layout. With the small planters and edging, it really makes a good buffer between grass and rock. A solid granite step in front of the screen door would really look nice. I love the TV setup next to the grill, that is a must have. :D

Looks good! What's to improve?

Thanks. It was a long process, but I am happy with the results. I couldn't find a decent pic of the step. I used a grey wall stone made by Rhino. It blended in nicely. The TV comes in handy and is one of my favorite features. The project expanded with utilizing the rest of the slate pavers as a walkway to my kids swingset I then did some more digging with the tractor and planted more trees, plants and grasses. I replaced the lattice which was under the front porch and used the rocks from the property to dry stack under the porch to look like a rock foundation. There was a red paver walkway from the driveway to the front door. I replaced that with the slate. Now for 2008 I have to finish planting around the front and side of the house, cut down more trees and attempt to get a lush lawn free of rocks. More Pics below. I also enclosed a picture of how the deck looked when I bought the house.

The lawn is very rocky and patchy. All of the rocks in the pictures came from my property. They seem to multiply like rabbits. The very first pic you can see the burn pile. I plan on removing most of those trees near the burn pile for a larger lawn. There is also a water runoff issue. There is a swale between the patio and the burn pile that I have to dig, place pipe etc to eleviate the pooling of water. The ground is mostly clay and always damp. I live ontop of a mountain and I have water problems....go figure. The main reason that the patio was done was #1 the old wood deck was an eye soar and #2 I dug a french drain where the deck was and along side of the house. This helped a great deal in my crawlspace. It didn't solve the water in the basement all together but, it did make a huge difference. Now the misses wants a lush green lawn, the type you can walk bare foot and not step on a rock.
