Just because you can't see them, doesn't mean they aren't there. Example - the moles in my yard. Maybe the pallets go underground to hibernate?

Sorry, but I think the migration theory is flawed. I believe pallets hibernate in place. I propose those seen in migration are actually being taken against their free will.

Yes, of course !!! The vermin underworld is involved. Maybe the pallets are actually ground hog radar antennas and the forecast prediction is done. The ground hogs pulled in their radar and are madly anticipating their big day next week.
