Oil & Fuel Overloading A Diesel

I guess I fine it hard to understand how mechanical brakes on only two wheels will stop a vehicle as fast as hyd brakes on on four.

My tractor only goes 12 mph and my brakes work good! Even the larger tractors go around 20 but I think the fasest one may top out at 25. Any faster and I think they would have to get a tag and inspection sticker!

Something else to think about regarding tractor brakes..

I don't know how the deere is set up, but in my Mahindra (with spur gear final drive), the brake drums/shoes are BEFORE the final gear reduction on the rear axle. That multiplies the braking force by what ever ratio follows it.

My rule of thumb, If I increase fuel delivery and the RPMs go up fairly quickly I am not overloaded.
