Overhead I Beam

I am looking to install an overhead I beam in my garage with a trolly and hoist for lifting off my loader ...... filled tires bucketis etc. I would not expect to ever lift more than 2000 pounds. The span will be 10 feet and it will be supporter with columns sunk into 18 inches of concrete. My question is how do I go about sizing the I-beam for the 10 ft span and a 2000 pound point load

On page 4, it shows that a 10' span with a 1 ton capacity uses a 6" beam. Two tons uses an 8" beam.

I usually see those smaller overhead "I" beam assemblies supported by "A" frame structure on the ends. Is 18" of colum in concrete enough to deal with potential side loads?

Doug's answer coincides with mine. I have a Hercules 1 Ton Gantry. It uses a 6" high I-beam x 3 1/4" wide. It is a little over 10'wide at the bottom and rolls around my garage on HD steel wheels. It has 10' clearance from the floor to the bottom of the beam. I have a 1 ton chain fall on the beam and added an electric winch on an 1 1/4" pipe that is sleeved with another pipe inside it. At 10'6" to the top I can roll it under my lift and outside if needed. I bought it at a garage sale about 25 years ago. The first pic is the one I have, the second is one I found on the net.
