I just finished the fifty-hour service and the last thing I did was fill the hydro with UDT. I added a 2.5-gallon can, checked it and added about another 1.5 gallons, checked it and it was above the full line. I drained some out, via the front drain and checked again, still too high. I drained another quart out and still too high. It's about a half inch above the full line.

Started it up and let it idle for 5 minutes to see if I had any air in the lines that would lower the level when they cleared, no luck. Engaged the transmission, raised and lowered the FEL and three point and turned the wheels side to side, still too high. Pulled it in and parked it for the night. I'll check it tomorrow morning and drain more out.

When I drained some after running the engine, the fluid was foamy, like it was full of air. Hoping the little workout will move the air out of the lines and level the fluid close to the correct amount.

What are the ramifications of running it a bit over filled on fluid?

Thanks,

I did mine yesterday and had to top it off twice after I thought it was full. Mine dropped after I drove it some. It looks like its doing okay now...mowed with it and the level has stayed up. Did you check your strainer...I did mine and was surprised, there was one little piece on mine. I was expecting it to be full of metal. Did you use Kubota filters....wow they don't give those away do they...they charged me $40 for the hydraulic filter...glad I don't have to do that again for a while.

Have great day...

The main problem with overfilling the system is the foaming of the fluid that occurs because the fluid is contacting the moving parts of the transmission. The best way to get the bubbles out is to let it sit for a while. Running it will not remove the bubbles, they just get pumped throughout the system. Air bubbles don't lubricate very well, but I wouldn't think any damage was done in the short time you ran it.

Dave, Thanks for the information. I drained about a quart out of the front tranny drain plug this morning and it was not foamy after setting all night. It is now at the full line.

How did you get your strainer off? I have done all the mainenance except this one item. I could not find a socket which matched the bolt size. Would the bolt be metric? I tried an adjustable wrench but it slipped off. I didn't want to keep trying and risk damaging the bolt. Who ever put this on really applied it with alot of force. I'm assuming it turns left to unscrew, same as most bolts.

Thanks

It uses a standard rightie tightie, leftie loosie thread and is a 26 mm. I got a socket and long box wrench at Lowe's pretty cheap. If you have two hyrdraulic filters the only strainer in on the left side (as you set on the tractor) of the tractor. The one that looks like a strainer on the right side is a plug. Don't take it off. If you have one hydraulic filter you have a left and right side strainer, clean them both. On the later model tractors with the two filters, the right side hyrdaulic filter took the place of the right side strainer.

I took mine off and did clean off a bunch of filings.
