Outside or garaged!

If anyone has some plans for a simple 3-sided shed/shelter for implements
please post them. they take up too much room in the barn. I am getting some heavy duty castors and hopefully that will help push the rototiller out of the way. I couldnt sleep well knowing my MF 1540 was outdoors (LOL). thanks.

Inside, unheated equipment shed with implements surrounding the tractor.

And yes, if I could get my cars inside. I would. I am a firm believer in protecting equipment and implements from the weather.

My B7800 is kept in a corn crib that was built during the civil war and is still going strong. Take good care of things and they will last.

This is the first winter for my B7800 and so far it has lived inside an insulated but as yet unheated garage along with the ballast box and snowblower sitting on wheel dollies.The garage is crammed full with the horse trailer and my other projects . All our daily driver vehicles live outside, but then they are also very weatherproof.When I do get the gas heat to the garage it will only be used when I'm there. The 5 kw heater I have now helps out but electric is lots of $. My old IH was never (and still isn't) inside but I guess there's something special about a shiny new tractor.

These may be a little fancier than what your wanting, but a lot of good ideas here.

Thanks for the compliment. I just firmly believe that keeping equipment clean after usage is the best way to keep it for a long time

I'd park it in the living room if I had big enough sliding doors. I keep it inside, heated right next to my truck. The way I look at it is...spend enough money on it might as well keep it in the best shape as possible. I think that it will pay off when you trade it in or sell it later. (to buy a bigger one of course)

I wish I had room to put it inside. but not yet!

My wife and I are looking at 20 acres above Idaho springs CO.

If I get this I will have a shop big enough for everything Including trailers. I am thinking 60' X 150'. Heres to hoping!!

I sure wish I had a structure big enough for my L4630! The best I could do was to erect a carport off the side of the garage, but it's not the best protection when the wind picks up. I had to swap out the fuel filter last week at minus 20F and 25mph winds -- not fun!

The wife wants a barn for her sheep. Heck, I'd turn the low garage into a sheep shelter if I could get a barn with doors tall enough for the tractor, truck and excavator!

That's some absolutely beautiful land. If you do build a shop make sure the doors are tall enough to get that nice tractor in and not clip off the cab or backhoe. When I first got my tractor I was going to keep it in the garage one weekend when my wife was out of town. But it wouldn't fit through the garage doors due to the ROPS canopy/sunshade. Makes me want to build a tractor shed/garage that is climate controlled, heated, and insulated with 12' rectractable doors. It would only need to be big enough for my tractor. That's my baby. My implements could stay outside; they're second class citizens.

Thanks Glowplug!!

I was thinking about having a 12-14' door or 2. The inside would be at least 16' so I could have an over head lift. The construction would be steel beam pole type.

I think I would have room inside for my second class citizens as well!!

IF I had a motorcycle and IF my tractor would fit in the garage. . .I'd put the tractor in the garage and the motorcycle in the barn!!

Actually, if it would fit I'd put my tractor in the bedroom. Don't think the wife would be too happy about that. But, hey, she already thinks (knows) I pay more attention to the tractor than her!

It's all about an individual's priorities.

Be careful how you interpret THAT statement!!

Mine is actually not a farm tractor but more of a toy. I am fortunate to have enough garage space to house the ATK dirt bike along with my 3rd run-about car and my tractor. The garage is not heated but is attached to the house and insulated very well. With below zero temps the garage will stay around 50 or so. Almost feels heated if you use your imagination.

I just finished building a new home and included an attached oversized 3 bay garage (36 ft wide), 14 feet tall ceiling, 36 feet wall front to back and and 2 insulated overhead steel doors (a 12x16 and an 8x8) with overlaid tongue and groove cedar planks....Yes the M105X cab with FEL and the model 71 mini-excavator do fit nicely in the garage. WHile the doors' heights are important to remeber, dont forget add'l length froint to back and MOST importantly, have the proper grade of reinforced concrete in the fornt pad and garage to support everything.

Sure is better than walking in snow & ice to the probably unheated barn, but, to each his own.
