Our first copperhead this year

The worst we got up here are Water Moccasins and then Garters and Copper Belly water snakes. The Copper Bellies are a little more aggressive than the Garters. They get into my dug well. I take about 10 or so out over the course of the summer.

A shovel works very well, we have grand kids and pets. We don't need poisonous snakes near the house.

I found a copperhead yesterday, curled up on top of the stump i was about to burn! The darn thing was all coiled up and wasn't too concerned with my presense, so I figured I'd move it rather than kill it. I changed my mind when halfway through transporting it, the sucker lunged at me! It was even biting at me with just a head!
