Mine is in a Ford. I thought about buying a cab and chassis with the specs I wanted but I’d have probably spent 20k to get the bed I wanted.
Buying trucks is impossible now for the working stiff.
New is over the top and used, if you can find one, are insanely overpriced

I wanted a single axel but I’ve seen some single axel 9000s with 8.3s or m11s or 3408 cats. But I’ve never seen a single axel 9000 with a bed I liked.
If the deal is good, remove the bed and sell it. Some body companies will give you some $ on a trade in, too.

I could’ve done that but I’d probably end up having to stretch the frame too. I ended up settling for a 5.9 with a 6 speed transmission which wasn’t the power option I wanted but the truck checked every other thing I wanted. Now I want a single axel roll off truck. Rather or not I get one for what I want to pay is looking doubtful.

I think the difference is in the weights I pull compared to you. I need the strength and reliability of the Cummins over any other features (whatever they may be, non I know of) of the Ford and the less powerful Powerstroke.
I agree and concur. That's why I never tell someone they should try something and never look back. I simply state what works for me. Each of our needs are different. When I pull my GN my Gross weight is always right around 24K. My two trucks with a total cost of $25K work fine for me. :)

Ford pickup Guys who never owned them all sound the same. Once you own one, they win you over. Especially when you need to pull something.

Its so important when you buy a piece of equipment to get as close to everything you want as possible. Making changes is big bucks.

Yeah those trucks are perfect for light work you’re doing.

Here’s a 9000 with a M11 and 10 speed but it has a 10 foot gravel bed. Virtually every 9000 I’ve seen for sale has the same bed configuration and I wanted a 14 foot bed with low sides. And they’re asking 19k which I could pay if it was what I wanted. I could probably buy a 9000 tractor for 5-10k but I don’t see doing a frame stretch, adding a pto and hydraulics and adding a dump bed for any less than 20k.

Yes, I realize that I'm just saying that the Manassas facilities primary business is automobile support and the expansion isn't up to speed yet.
