Any opinions are greatly apperciated.

Thank you :)

PapaPerk - check out tractorhouse.com. I think the numbers Neil is quoting you are likely what you would be offered on trade - just a guess. You can usually get more selling it yourself.

Oh the temerity of some....from Messick's web site.....
Since 1952 Messicks has been serving the central Pennsylvania area providing the tools you need to get the job done.

Yep I am sure that Mr. Messick would respond to a question of What is the Tractor worth.....with a trade in value number and NOT what the worth of the tractor truly is.....sarcasm intended PapaPerk.....

In my opinion on the tractorhouse pricing is as follows: due people actually pay that much that is being asked?? tractorhouse prices seem high in my opinion..

Ask a little bit more than what you want to sell for. leave yourself a little wiggle room. You know in your mind what you need to get out of it so go with that number.

I'd say, given the economy, this really is a buyers market. I'd probably offer 15% less than most prices being quoted on tractorhouse.

That said if Papaperk was selling his L3830 with a loader for $15-16K and it was an HST, I would show up there myself, from Canada, cash in hand, despite the economy and buy it. For a couple k difference between what I could sell my L3400 here in a private sale, I'd live a L3830.

In a private sale, I don't doubt that PapaPerk can get much more than $15K but the sale might not be fast. For a trade in, or a sale to a dealer, he may well get exactly what Neil quoted here... after all the tractor may sit on the dealer's lot for a while in this economy.

FWIW - the original poster didn't really say whether he was looking for a private sale or a trade in / dealer's price. The tractor is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. A dealer will - for good reason - pay 20 or so % less than what he would get in a private sale.
