Open Carry

I agree with you both but I was just suggesting since the law allows others to open carry...which can hurt our rights if folks begin to get upset over seeing guns out in the open like that....maybe the states that allow it overlooked that if they are going to allow open carry they sure better require the person to display a button next to their weapon showing they are licensed...I know that would make LEO's and the public feel better and it just might prevent us from losing our rights to carry at all...

Trust me the anti gun fanatics are looking for any excuse...any excuse at all to take away as many of gun owners rights as they can...
Have to tell ya about a incident that happened at a local party store about 2 miles from my house.Guy who is the store buying some items is open carry and some drunken idiot behind him in line grabs his pistol out of his holster and asks him why do you need to carry this gun. After a slight struggle(that could have went BAD)he recovered his weapon. Now the store owner will not allow guns in his store.coobie

Murph....I totally agree...An armed society is a polite society....we have our rights under the constitution...I am just trying to suggest a way to work around the cards we have been dealt...and not let the open carry folks give the anti gun folks ammo to use against those of us who just want to protect our family....You are right...all of this should be moot...We have the right to bear arms...how much cleared could the founders make it...and those rights shall not be abridged...:confused3:

We don't have our rights "under the constitution", the constitution recognizes our rights which existed well before the establishment and is suppose to be a restriction to the government.

The way I see it, I will never complain about the way someone carries as long as they carry. Open, concealed, as long as more and more carry the more safe we all will be.

... but since most crooks are cowards

Not so sure about that. Personally I'd not care to wager my life that their cowardice would somehow be a protection against their mental instability.

If open carry was not legal, people who carry concealed would be risk being charged with accidentally revealing their weapon every time they leave the house. I don't open carry unless in the woods, but it sure is nice not to have to worry about accidentally exposing my weapon.

Dido to that! MN is a carry state, concealed or unconcealed makes no difference for someone with the unconstitutional carry permit. I never open carry in town, but it is nice knowing that I'm not illegal if I print or my coat opens a little too much. That also lets me carry with more of an emphasis on ease of use versus an emphasis on keeping everything hidden.

I've got a MN permit (which allows for open or concealed) and a Utah permit. I never carry open unless on my land. I feel open carry folks may want to display or "show-off" their rights...kinda an in-your-face attitude. Some folks could take exception to that position.

I do like the fact that if I should print or accidentally expose a concealed gun that I am not breaking any laws. In a SHTF scenario.....I could see open carry as a possible option.

I'm with you guys. I like the wording of the MN law, insomuch as it allows to carry either open or concealed, but I prefer to go about my business with as little attention to myself as possible. I carry with an OWB holster that covers easily, and I keep it covered. I don't, however, worry about a little printing if it happens. Never had an issue yet. The big thing to remember is just to act like it's not there. Chances are, no one will notice or make a big deal about it. Most people aren't really that perceptive.
