Open Carry

I wonder if it would be a good idea for states who allow open carry to issue 2 forms of Carry license...the Weapons Carry License for the wallet and then a Open Carry Button to be worn next to your weapon...It might have the state seal or flag and then over it...Lic. to carry weapon....That would put the public's mind at ease and would stop LEO inquiry ...What do you folks think....? I just worry that open carry will give folks that carry concealed a bad name and maybe end up causing us to lose the right to carry concealed or open,,, Just wondering out loud ???

IMHO if you open carry you asking for problems.I carry in the waist band holster,just feel less noticed to carry this way.I have open carried in my woods while hunting.coobie

If you are going to open carry, you really have to be extra cautious, you not only have your gun to defend yourself, but you are showing your hand to the bad guy... who may want your gun for himself... some folks carry well, others are just asking for trouble... IMHO.

I agree with you both but I was just suggesting since the law allows others to open carry...which can hurt our rights if folks begin to get upset over seeing guns out in the open like that....maybe the states that allow it overlooked that if they are going to allow open carry they sure better require the person to display a button next to their weapon showing they are licensed...I know that would make LEO's and the public feel better and it just might prevent us from losing our rights to carry at all...

Trust me the anti gun fanatics are looking for any excuse...any excuse at all to take away as many of gun owners rights as they can...

Murph....I totally agree...An armed society is a polite society....we have our rights under the constitution...I am just trying to suggest a way to work around the cards we have been dealt...and not let the open carry folks give the anti gun folks ammo to use against those of us who just want to protect our family....You are right...all of this should be moot...We have the right to bear arms...how much cleared could the founders make it...and those rights shall not be abridged...:confused3:

I don't open carry often,but since most crooks are cowards,I would think if they knew I was armed they would just pick an easier target that wasn't armed. Most places I go I feel reasonability safe and conceal carry,but if I were going downtown at night I would probably open carry to discourge getting mugged. Would it just make me a target,maybe,but I don't think so.

I'm sure a drug dealer would love to ad your gun to his collection. Criminals will acquire guns anyway they see fit. If your in the wrong place at the wrong time, what is to stop him from sneaking behind you putting a gun to your head and having his accomplice take your gun. Downtown at night open carrying probably isn't a good idea if it is muggers your city has a problem with.
