Dealer told me a 3000 seris and 4000 seris used the same key.
he said a 2520 was all by its self. and only a 2520 key would fit it. :)
I cant proove this , as my 2520 has not got here yet....
not that its really a big deal. anyone could just go to JD and buy a 2520
key if thay was going to steal it...:(

Well, not really. That must have been a very cheap padlock, no offense. :)

I do locksmithing on the side (among other thing's) and can tell you that most padlock's have thousands of tumbler possibilities. Even a normal cheap padlock has 5 tumblers with each tumbler having 6-7 different cut depth possibilities. The more tumblers the greater the total number of possibilities.

I just wanna know how you trained that animal to aim?

On the left side of the engine at the starter is a fusible link. There is a plastic connector on each end (usually white) that can be disconnected on one end or even better remove it and put it in your pocket. This link is nothing more than a special piece of wire that is designed to melt if there is a major short circuit to protect the electrical system. It is labeled "O" in the attached picture. Just don't lose the wire if you remove it.

That's what I was looking for.

Thanks for the tip.

Funny thing about keys.

I went to the dealer to buy a couple of extra keys for the used 4700 which I bought...

When they looked them up they said it was the same key as my 755. But I knew they were different. The 4700 had this orange square block with notches in both sides of the keys.

I wonder if the previous owner swapped the ignition.

What types of machines does the red/orange square with notches on both sides go to? I suspect it is heavy equipment (like loaders). The previous owner has a bunch of 544s.
