Living in rust I see fewer and fewer old TipKicks, Kodiak's, and Louisville's and they used to be all over the place.

the chevy dealer here years ago had 427 rebulids ready to go and mechanics on 24-7 during beet harvest didnt take them long to swap one out now hard to get anything done after 5 , evenduring normal hours went into the coop with a flat two guys standing around , guy at the coub]ter said they were busy

my buddy had gmc generals they were beasts

used too be a shop here they bought fleet semis cut and stretched them some were good once in awhile would be a bad one

I recall General's were fairly popular here in Maine. I used to see them all over.

its a 366, was a tandem on the auction only bad thing 5+4 trans , those get spendy too work on i bid on it though had a 427 used to drive thoce 80 mph full when i was young and careless

You lucked out….. the 366 is a great motor, and plenty power!

Of course you think you got a deal otherwise you wouldn’t have bought it. 1974 Chevy, 366 motor, grain box with hydraulic hoist, 53,000 miles, minimal rust and a new battery. Put some gasoline directly into the carburetor and fired it up. Had to add brake fluid and bleed them. On line internet auction. It was advertised as “ no hoist”. It pays to inspect at those sales. Winning bid $850 plus $85 commission and tax / registration. Currently being used at my brothers farm. So this one was worth about $1000 yours apparently is worth more.

The local milk haulers had a fleet of GMC tank trucks.
Their preferred engines were 366. They always stated over heating problems with the 427's.

I liked them so well I put one in my squarebody.
