Tractor
Kubota BX1500/L3240
I just received the OK to purchase a Kubota Grand L3240 HST with a FEL from the wife. I drove in a snow storm to sign the paperwork and am waiting for the delivery. Two questions: Is there anything I should know about this tractor that I have not read about? I have a Kubota BX1500 and needed to upgrade as I moved to 10 acres in Iowa which have been neglected a bit. There was a non-operational Ford 8-N on the property along with a three point cutter, blade, pallet forks, post hole digger and roto-tiller. The second question is: the wife now says I owe her big-time...That's not good is it?

Thanks Jay, I didn't think so. I hope that I will be able to get the answers to what I am sure will be many questions about this tractor and the operation of the FEL in the future.

Keep the posts and questions coming :D. We, the members of TBN are all in this together :). I wish there was a TBN 23 years ago when I bought my first tractor, a Ford 1100. I can honestly admit that I had a very steep and accelerated "learning curve" . At times I am still reminded that I still have a lot to learn about tractors, attachments, etc..

I suggest you fill out your profile as well as tell us about your location, property, anticipated tractor tasks, short term and long term "plans", etc. so we can all help you spend your hard earned money . We will also provide you with the "justifications" necessary to help you with attachment acquisition. The "She Who Must Be Obeyed "'s in our lives can make tractor ownership
:( at times ;).

Use your new tractor safely and well- Jay :)

You should rephrase that expression to "My equipment has not met my parameters of expectation" ;) Jay

Well Jay, I can't seem to ever come up with the right response to (What did you do now?) In any case, was there anything you can think of that a new tractor operator should be aware of, other than make sure you know that a bucket is in front of you and take it easy on inclines. I think with the HST I shouldn't have any major problems, just learning to operate the FEL.

Ok, I'll go first and embarass myself. My first tractor, same as yours, pulled it out of the barn the second week to show my nephew, didn't seem to run quite right (brake was on  ) Hard to tell with that HST plus.

Also, don't fall asleep in that comfy suspension seat and run into the minivan. (no, I have not done that - yet). Try explaining that to your SWMBO! Good luck and welcome to the brotherhood!

welcome to the forum and just use your new tractor slow, and you will get the hang of it. As far as owing the wife big time, if it wasn't the tractor it would have been something just part of being married:D

NO NO NO! Tell her the tractor is only injury prevention equipment to safely preform activities that would, without the tractor, cause injury and great soreness. There is no "owing" on safety equipment.

It is no different than air bags in her car.

Oh, by the way If her car does not have airbags it might be time to upgrade her vehicle.
