Oil type question

A 0w30, 5w30 or 10w30 would be better choices and approved by manual "10w30". Millions of VW diesels all over the world running around with 5w30 in their crankcases.

Your manual even approves an SAE20 but maybe not for extreme temps.

All oils with water cooled engines operate against coolant controlled by thermostats typically at 190-195 F. So, those upper temps are only for air cooled diesels.

Killer deal!! It should work fine. I'm running Shell 15W 40 in my L2501. I've found it works fine here, even in the winter. We rarely see temperatures below 20 degrees Fahrenheit.

What about supertech heavy duty hydraulics and tranny fluid for the kubota tractor? It says it meets requirrments for several tractor makers including Kubota and JD? It’s $60/5 gal, substantially cheaper than udt2.

Maybe it's just me but;average 120 hours a year so oil changes at every 2-1/2 years or so what are you really saving?I have and will stick with Kubota branded oils.

Nope. SUDT2 is what you want. If your L2501 is gear drive and your dealer stocks UDT then that's an option. Unlike engine oil there is exactly zero oversight for hydraulic oil compatibility, suitability or "meets or exceeds" claims.

Edited to include UDT for gear drive.

I use TSC premium HYD fluid in my HST Kubota. The way I look at it is, each time I rent , or borrow equipment that connects to my hydraulics, my HYD fluid is contaminated with who knows what other types of fluid.

The owners manual recommends - 15W40 for my M6040. I buy Shell Rotella T4. I did use Kubota oil during the warrantee period. Changed to T4 because it is available at O'Reillys here in our little town.

When they state blended synthetic oil, it may only be 10% synthetic oil added. You are better off with this full synthetic oil.
A 15w-40 full synthetic oil will flow at low temperatures as well a non synthetic 10w-40. Look at the pour points, then add 20 degrees.
That is the pump point. So as an example, flows at minus 43F, that means the pump point is minus 23F degrees.
