Those of you that have added a oil pressure gauge, what kind of readings are you getting?

Cold start
Cold engine under load
Hot engine idle
Hot engine under load

I wouldn't try to over-analyze that oil pressure. any pressure reading is good. An oil light goes out at about 3-3.5 psi.

I want to order a gauge for my tractor. I need to keep the gauge under the max pressure, but the narrower I can keep the range, the easier it will be to read the pressure. 3 lbs is pretty low!

You can't go wrong with an 80 psi gauge, and expect to see anything between 10-60 psi.

Norm,

Isn't it possible to adjust oil pressure up with the flange nut behind the oil filter? I believe it slows down the oil return and boosts the pressure side...I've never done it, just heard you can.

I've never done it either, but who knows what the correct adj. would be? The only oil pressure problems I have ever had on a vehicle were in the sending switch and I've had 15 old cars and 1 old tractor over a 48 year period.

Well it's the sending switch that I'm trying to diagnose. Good cold pressure, but the oil light comes on after 10 min of running when the oil starts to thin out. The engine sounds fine which is why I'm suspecting the sender. Of course, the two cylinder clack would mask any rod knock so who knows. There could be another issue which is why I need to know what the actual pressure is.

I have a 3110d and the following are my oil pressure observations.
Cold Idle and working-Approx 75
Warm and working-Approx 50
Warm at Idle-Approx 25

I have a 1700. I am not sure how that compares to a 1110

Cold: 50-55
Cold under load: I don't do ...wait for it to warm up
Hot idle: 40
Hot Under Load: 50

Are your oil lights going off at 3-5psi?

I don't use the light anymore. The seding unit is for a gauge only. I have heard of some that put some kind of Tee that allowed them to use both.

Had my sender go out, or should I say come on last summer. Worked fine when it was cold but when working hard during mid day it came on. Found a little bit of oil behind the electrical connector. I have not cut one in half, but I would guess the sender uses a diaphragm switch that gets loose and lets oil pass to give the false signal. Felt really good after installing the gauge and seeing it read 36 to 47 psi on the 1500D. Never see it go past low 50's on start up.

My dad always said that as long as you have 10lbs for every 1000rpm you're in good shape.

Does anybody know about the ability to raise the oil pressure as mentioned above? I suspect he's referring to the check valve. Anybody know if my 2T72 engine has one and were it's located?

Do you have any problems finding parts for your 3110d I just bought one. Leaks oil around pan and from the front axle (gear oil I guess) comes from right behind wheel.
