Oil & Fuel oil filter leak

weirdest thing happened last week end, was using the tractors moving dirt & debris as usual and after about 4 hours I noticed oil leaking from around the oil filter. tried to tighten it , but it wasn't loose. I replaced the filter (and added a quart of oil)and that stopped the leak. I didn't bang it with any branch or anything, fliter just gave out. anybody else have this happen? wasn't due for an oil change for another 75 hrs.

I know there were some issues with leaking oil filters on some Mahindra 10 series tractors with the Daedong (Kioti) engines. I never experienced it but, I believe there was a run of filters with gaskets that didn't seal well. This was a while ago, maybe something similar?
