Oh no, my toolbox is inadequate. :(

I have a small cheap metal box. It's large enough to hold a ball pein hammer and a few basic tools and wrenches. A few spare shear bolts are in there as well as a couple of rags and rubber gloves. The "leaky" area is the piano hinge, but I fixed that by glueing a strip of rubber to the top that covers the hinge. As I recall, it's a piece of old inner tube. It's stayed dry for the past few years.

If I need more tools than can fit in that, I limp the tractor back to the barn where the real tools are. Or start walking to retrieve the truck with parts and tools. 🤷‍♂️

That is the cleanest, most tidy Ford ever posted on this site, beautiful. Most posted pictures, the tractor is crudy and looks like it was never washed and I'd be ashamed to post a picture for all to see what a poor operator I was. You certainly don't fit into that group.

40 mm ammo box works very well and if you bolt one latch, it acts like a hinge. Love mine.

Do you mind posting a picture of how you mounted it? I've got a 40, it just would need to be cleaned up. Covered in duct tape and spray paint, and that's before I left the Army with it long ago.

I wonder how the seal is on mine, I haven't touched it in a decade. I basically forgot I had it.

We belong to a trail club that used those "waterproof" ammo boxes for field notes. There not, and had to drill holes on them to let it out. They might have been OK for the First 20 years.
It’s possible you have condensation in the box. And if the water can’t get out it might be waterproof.

That's a really neat idea; what are you using to strap them down?
So sorry, totally missed this question. I bought some "shovel" mounting hardware, screwed it to a piece of wood, and used hose clamps to attach it to the ROPS. It would look better if I had used a smaller piece of wood and painted it black! I might have to clean that up over the winter...

Love that spud wrench though!

The toolbox on my Kioti won't fit a hammer and this offends me, therefore I'm replacing it. I'll be using the existing mount, so just replacing the box. I've found two that strike my fancy, one metal and one plastic.

I figure the advantages of the metal box would be strength, esthetics, and larger size; the disadvantage being rust.

I would presume the plastic box would be better sealed from the weather, be easier to drill through, and while when pushed to it's limits would break before the metal box- it wouldn't dent. Disadvantage being that it would break first, and it's a little smaller.

Anyhow, the metal box.

I'm also open to suggestions for other boxes.
I removed my small plastic tool box and mounting bracket on my new holland TC33D tractor. I made a new tool box mount with a 1/4”x4”x24” piece of steel and am using an atv winch mount to hold a pelican 1520 hard plastic waterproof box. The flat piece of steel should give me around 4” more clearance so the new tool box won’t have a clearance problem with PTO implements. I am still working on it and will update pictures when completed. This tool box will hold more tools and will be easier to get into. Other tractor tool boxes you have to dig into to retrieve a tool.
