Off Lease Terex MTLs

I have been watching the auctions on Ironplanet and see a lot of sunbelt off lease units for sale. My question to you guys is if I were going to buy a unit, what do I need to look out for? The ASV/Terex units resell values are really low which is not really a bad thing, as this will be a farm machine, not buy it and flip it on C/L. I have been watching youtube and really like the way the ASV undercarriage handles mud, turf, and normal use. Why are these machines given such a bad name from the others, are the undercarriages that costly to repair, is the unit not built as rugged as all others?

The undercarriage is CRAZY expensive to rebuild. It can be $12k plus and it's not just the "belts". It is the hundreds of other parts in their nice riding but way overly complicated u/c. The rental yards just sell them off at that point. I would mike a wide circle around the ASV u/c machines in favor of anything else.
