I would like to add rear remotes to my TC35DA. I called the dealer and was quoted over $700 for the remote kit for one set. I was a bit surprised that the kit cost much. I did'nt ask how much install would cost. Here are my questions:

If I buy the kit ,is this a complicated install if I do it myself? I have lots of repair and installation experience on different equipment but no experience with hydraulics.

Is there an alternative to the factory kit that I can use?

Thanks
Chris

I don't know NH equipment but I firmly believe that anyone, half way smart, with good mechanical aptitude can follow the directions for an installation such as this baring the need for a special tool.

For the last 5 decades or more I have been doing ALL repair and maintenance around the house and vehicles. If I needed a special tool I frequently bought it figuring I at least broke even with having the work done and I knew the quality of work.

I would say - go for it. There are enough knowledgeable people here on TBN to help you if you get stuck.

Chris, as much as this looks like the correct place to ask this question, I can assure you that you will get much more help in the New Holland Owning/Operating forum. Manu of us have installed remotes on the Class III Boomers like yours and member Pineridge even has links to his own website with detailed step-by-step installation photos.

You could do the job yourself if you have good hydraulics knowledge and want to spend the time, but I would not suggest it. Even with the prices as they are, a bolt-on kit from NH is a piece of cake compared to designing your own remote from scratch.

A few years ago, NH raised the price on remotes. I have the maximum, three remotes, on my tractor and all three did not cost what only one costs now. Sigh...:( Only gasoline has gone up as much as remotes.
