Any new findings on this ?

Welp.. I was wrong. It was the filter housing. Dealer came over this afternoon and we pulled out the filter housing and put in the new one.. Started it up; perfect. <shaking head>

The filter housing was backordered for months, that should have told us something; why on earth is there a run on NX filter housings unless... There's some problem with at least some of them. We looked over the old housing real good, not much to see, maybe a little paint in a place it shouldn't be, but, beyond that, it looked fine. But that was absolutely the problem, the moment we cranked it over, it was immediately evident that the problem had been resolved.

Taking that housing apart, it's obvious there are possible areas for problems in there. That housing is attached with a few o-rings to seal it and it's held together just by pressure (no bolts, not screwed down). However, that said, that wasn't the problem because the dealer had already split it and changed the o-rings.. It was something in the housing itself, and, there's not a lot to it, it's just a piece of steel. Really strange, but there must have been a defect in some of them that lead to this problem.

Just wanted everyone to know in case they ran into the bubbles in the suction line problem. The filter housing can absolutely be the cause, it was for me.

Now, the only question, I think this problem has been there since delivery. Tractor always felt a little jerky.. Got about 250 hours on it, and I'm wondering if I should try to get them to change the pump. What are the chances that the air in the system damaged it? I still have 5 years left on my powertrain warranty, so, maybe just a 'wait and see', but, if it's going to break or likely been damaged, I'm going to start a campaign to get it fixed rather than wait for it to break.

Filter housing? Did you notice any design changes? I'm wondering if I should look into this as I have one of the earliest NXs and here is a typical cold start in my neck of the woods.

Looking for any new developments on this issue! My NX4510 is making the same noise, like there's air in the line, but it's not nearly as bad as the OP's video. Forwarding my dealer this thread and info on the filter housing.

Adding some info to my previous post. I have roughly the same year model NX4510. My transmission sound isn't nearly as bad as what Eric and the OP have in their videos, but it's there. If it's not identical, it's very, very similar.

NX451 transmission popping sound - YouTube

This video was taken with me sitting in the driver's seat with my phone looking down on my left side. No comments on the dust please. It's dirty and sandy down here in South Texas! :) I could have taken it anywhere in the cab, but wanted the phone to be close to the sound as possible.

Tractor currently has 100ish hours on it. Loader and three point work fine, but you can feel the loader slightly drop when lifting, and the drop coincides with the noise....like there's air in the line or something like that. It's been making that noise since I got it home, but seems to have gotten worse recently to the point where I can hear it pretty well. Like I said earlier, I've forwarded the link to this thread and the OP's video to my dealer. I'll let everyone know what I find out.

Thanks!

Sorry guys, I've not seen all the replies. Eric, you absolutely have the problem I did. It's near identical at ~3:20 when your picking up your loader. That's what it used to do, it doesn't do that AT ALL anymore, even in the cold. I can start it and go (I don't, but I can) immediately. And the sound, I can hear it in your video, that shouldn't be there. Mine used to make that sound, doesn't anymore. Open up your hydro fill port and listen, I'll be you can hear or see the air blowing in there.

Justman, your's also sounds like mine. Raise up the FEL or 3pt, see if it "jerks" in time with that sound. I'll bet it does. And the same checks I just suggested to Eric would apply as well, the sound is less clear in yours, but I'm pretty sure I hear it. It's very distinctive, you call it popping, and that's as good a description as any, but whatever you call it, once you hear it/know it, it's easy to pick out. Eric's video has it, for sure, and I'm pretty sure yours does too. After it was fixed, my tractor NEVER makes that noise anymore, so, having heard it for a long time, it's easy to pick it out as "that noise shouldn't be there".

I'll call Zac, my parts guy and ask about a retrofit filter housing. Thanks for the follow-up.

Part number for the filter housing I received is T5210-38102. I'd be interested to see if your parts guy orders the same PN. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to put my new one on this weekend. I'll try to get after it today.

Hello to all, new here to the forum. Add me to this list also. NX4510 HST 2018 with 90 hours on it. I have bubbles as i look into the rear fill port. I changed hydraulic fluid (purchased from dealer) at 50 hours. I changed both hydraulic filters also. I recheck to make sure the filters are tight several times.
The sound is the same as justman777's video. justman777 did your dealer give you the part as a warranty claim?
Thanks

My parts came as a warranty, including the installation of them by the dealer. While I'm happy to help others, I'm really sad to hear this, it's obvious this is no longer a one off. I'm beginning to wonder what percent of NX's have this issue. You could run a long time and not "notice" if you're not listening for it. Clearly something wrong, Kioti should have done/do a recall on these, this isn't filter housing wearing out, this is a manufacturing defect. :(

Any updates on this from others seeing the problem? I'm a little reluctant to say this, but now, about 100 hrs after the filter housing was replaced, I'm afraid the issue might be coming back. I heard it "burp" on air a few times the other day out using it. Hydraulics are behaving well, but I still have the clear section in my suction line and.. Yup.. I see bubbles. We'll see what happens, if it fails again, at least I know what the problem is and can just go right there, but, why on earth would this be "coming back"?

Actually, that's an interesting question in general. Because this issue clearly got worse as time passed, and yet, it was equally clear that replacing the filter housing fixed it. So something in that housing is "wearing out". But I've had it in my hand, it's a chunk of steel with a few holes in it. What on earth is "failing" in these things? Yes, I get it, bad castings, lots of heat, maybe the expansion/contraction breaks it over time? But this is just so strange. Maybe it's eroding through time because the passages aren't "smooth enough"? IDK, just grasping at straws here. But it feels like this is kind of like "wearing out" the block of an engine. They don't wear out, they wear away. And if you're "wearing out" an engine block in 1000 miles, well.. Something ain't right.
