NX5510 will crank but not start..

Hey folks...

Need some guidance.. 2017 NX5510 approximately 200 hours will crank, but not start. Would not start. Then replaced fuel filter with new fuel filter. Lines cleared and will pump fuel to the injector pump, but that's it... Any ideas.

Thanks for the reply... Could it have gotten air in the lines prior to removing the filter?? The issue started then the filter was changed...

May not be getting fuel to the injectors.
You are still in warrantee.... call the service department and get advice from them. They may have to send someone out.

So u HAVE FUEL TO the inj. pump but nothing out..
It could be air & u loosen the lines AT THE INJECTORS & crank the engine until the air is expelled & retighten the lines..
OR.. it could be the shut-off solenoid .. or a fuse going to the shut off solenoid..
Is this a tier 3 or 4.?? Mechanical injection or common rail.??

Might be late to the party, but...

I suspect you might have a fuel blockage. Check that your line from the fuel tank isn't pinched: I once managed to get a stick jammed up underneath on the tank side that wedged the line closed against the frame. Also might want to disconnect that line to the filter and blow back through it (loosen up fuel cap): this is how I found out my line was pinched- hauled my portable air tank out and blew back and got nothing but resistance!

If you get it to run momentarily and it then shuts back off it could be that there's debris inside the fuel tank that is being sucked up against the outlet (and it'll drift back away when the engine shuts back off- loss of vacuum to pull the debris against the outlet). I also had this situation, but it was due to an ice pellet! (looking back, that happened around 100 hrs, I think it was the result of a crappy fuel cap (allowing water in; I was getting water-in-fuel fairly regularly, and ONLY on this tractor [not on any of my other diesels- all using fuel from my on-site tank])- dealer got me a new one, one that was slightly different [suspect design change]- first cap's key had cuts on one side only and it felt really cheap; second cap's key has cuts on both sides and feels a lot better).

Tractor is actually at the dealer now and they suspect it will need a new computer... Go figure...

Tractor was returned to dealer 4 weeks ago tomorrow. Still not fix. Replaced the computer and tractor will start now, but has very little compression in 1 cylinder...

Well, that's more odd than not starting. Wonder if it's a programming thing with the one cylinder. Did they find the low compression when they were troubleshooting the ECM, or did you notice a lack of power and take it back to them?

The tractor would not start at all. Had to be pushed on the trailer to take it to the dealer. After the computer was replaced there was a "knocking." Compression testing showed the 3rd cylinder with low to no compression. I assume that the computer going bad may have sent to much fuel to the cylinder and "washed" it out. Time will tell.. I do not make my living farming but after 4 weeks if I did I would have starved to death....

Having it out for a month sounds like a dealer issue. I know there's two sides to every story, but it wouldn't be acceptable to me to have anything at a mechanics for a month, no matter what the story is. Seems like it should take a week at most, and that's getting the part direct shipped to them.

I know it's an old thread but what happened with it I have a 2016 nx 5510 that won't start and has bad compression on cylinder 3 as well

Do you recall the frequency of regens? I'm thinking that if there's over-fueling going on that regen frequency would be abnormally high: also potential DPF clogging issues.

Starting to think that periodic oil tests might not be a bad idea (oil would likely show higher than normal fuel in oil).

I've got 670+ hrs on mine (also a 2016) and so far no signs of engine issues.

1940 hours will start after cranking a while and for for a few seconds
#3 has very low compression 1 and 2 both over 400
Dealer could only find code for fuel rail pressure sensor
Tried 2 different new ones no change. I'm begining to think computer issue
