It seems a lot of lawmakers for many, many years have gotten away from this document.

Rozett, I agree the NRA is getting into the media business to circumvent the campaign finance law. But I believe it's being done out of necessity rather then choice. As fishman stated:

The end result is that the NRA is trying to preserve an avenue in order to get their view out. Few people can doubt that the major media outlets favor the democratic party and the liberal view. The NRA has been repeatedly denied airing commercials and shows by the major media outlets.

I was disappointed that the government relaxed the media monopoly standards. I think it's healthy for the average citizen to get a mix of different viewpoints from different walks of life. I believe that all the media outlets should have to post the name of the parent company. That way the average person can tell if they're getting unbiased news or simply different angles of the same view held by a major media outlet.
