I got a tomahawk grapple. Good match for my MX and I havent destroyed it yet.

They were one of the most affordable when I was looking.....And a local shop stocks their products too

Tomahawk Attachments :: Tomahawk 66" One-Cylinder Brush Grapple
I have a dual lid Tomahawk. I picked it up at the factory and avoided a shipping charge. I have no complaints. It has been getting a workout with a recent ice storm and my white pine trees.

It doesn't list weight but it looks really heavy for only a 45 hp tractor rating

I don't know what the grapple that Peter referenced weighs, but the nearly exactly same design 66" model by Mid State Attachments weighs about 550 lbs.
My 60" model from Mid State showed 525 lbs. on the freight slip, so, minus flimsy pallet weight, actual weight about 500 lbs.
Rating is for..... "up to 50 HP"
500 lbs. is certainly not a weight issue on my L48 TLB.

A more accurate statement might be: "ideal" for most "35-65 HP" tractor applications.

I think this is the one I want to go with, but if I decide I can’t wait 10 weeks, I’ll probly go with the Land Pride SGC1060. Certainly like the EA 60 Inch Wicked Root Rake Grapple, though.

Not trying to talk you out of that land pride grapple at all. But If you are going to abuse it like I do mine. I fear those bottom tines are going to get bent. There is no bracing for those on the land pride, like there is on the wicked.

The center attachment point on the wicked prevents the top lid from bending, incase you happen to clamp down on an offset load, or back dragging dirt , rocks, etc, with the top lid, and have it fully open.
There is no center attach point on the land pride.

Believe me, I can understand about the wait period, Just throwing out what I have seen happen to grapples under heavy / extreme use..

If you don't intend to use the land pride for any heavy /extreme use. It should work well for you

I get no money from either company. Just trying to help you purchase the best grapple that will last you a life time

Which ever grapple you purchase.. I wish you the best

Glad Im not the only one with the tomahawk.

No doubt the wicked grapple is a nice piece.....but at twice the price its kinda hard to justify.

Like many with a grapple - my hydraulic hoses from the FEL stand off to the grapple are pretty long. From the FEL stand off back to the 3rd function valve - all securely attached to the FEL with heavy duty nylon wire ties or metal clips. Look closely at this picture. There are two extra things I did with these hoses. I wrapped them with heavy duty spiral wound hose protection and have them held up with multiple bungee cords. The bungee cords go from the hoses back up to the "bucket level" stand off. I "pretzleized" the bucket level rod the first time I used the grapple. I installed the spiral wrap on my hydraulic hoses - on the grapple and on the rear blade. View attachment 682791

I like your setup. The bracket on the inside of the FEL arm is a good place to attach the bungee. With last tractor I had perfected my hose setup for the grapple. I have had my current tractor for over a year and I am still experimenting to find the best setup. I have not pinched a hose but I have broken a couple of bungee cords.

I hear you there - buck12. I've got this nasty habit. I can break an anvil with a single turkey feather. So ........ I prepare for the worst and hope to never be there. Even with the "wrap" around those hoses - I saw them all dangling there as a bad situation just waiting to happen. The bungees keep them UP and away from most all dangers. I replace the bungees annually.

I can relate. I also broke the bucket level indicator off a month old tractor. I doubt I will fix it.

They replied back pretty fast Monday morning at 8:30, The standard 66 weighs 750LBS, and the Economy 66 weighs 687LBS.TiTan Implement LLC.

The l3800 loader is rated at 855 lbs to full height at 500mm from the pin. The difference between 400 and 687 lbs is important.

I know I'm not buying a grapple..........

Yeah. Hard to keep up... For to OP, the MX can handle a 700 lb grapple but you are loosing significant capacity. I've had logs that my MX could barely lift with the wicked 60.

If you are committed to buying a premium grapple, you definitely should exercise a bit of patience, and WAIT, to get the (premium) EA grapple!
