a bit of a tangent here, but related......
1) always, ALWAYS get uninsured motorists insurance. amazing how many are driving w/o insurance esp. w/the economy. i've been saved by it as i was rear ended by teenager w/o insurance.

2) unlike most americans, i keep my vehicles a long time (not just hobby ones) my '92toyota truck drives like a new one & in some respects is better built than the ones today. my 98 honda prelude is pristine. 96 Rav 4 beats the h_ll out of new car payments.
BUT: if someone hits me as bad as your unfortunate accident, either insurance co will total it @ blue book...and i would have to buy it back for parts/salvage! i would never be able to replace them, i'd be s_rewed. insurance companies will not insure over blue book on older ones (comprehensive will not cover collisions)
Bottom line: 1) be careful driving your prized vintage 2) ALL the BEST in your current collision repair!!!!!! hope it works out for you....what will it do to the resale value of your truck? bb

Sales for Chrysler overall were up 17% vs 2009, they have 16 all new or completely re-engineered vehicles, Jeep GC sales are up over 200% and the RAM trucks are up over 90%. They will also be releasing a slew of new small compacts based on Fiat cars that will lead the MPG wars come 2013. How is that not recovering...?

The % increase is over almost no sales...That's the problem with % as opposed to real numbers. Not arguing here at all.

If I sold one widget last year, and 2 this year...That's a 100% increase.

I want to see Dodge do well. They make some pretty cool stuff, and always have.

When they compare housing start % to 2006, as they are want to do, the % is way down..Why?...Because there were more houses being built than could be sold, a lage number just on spec. ...Just like comparing employment to 1998...All of those no income dot-coms inflating the employment figures.

You can use percentages or "real numbers", either way they sold more than before. That is called a "recovery", now if their sales went down then you could say that company is not recovering.

Let's hope all three recover. It will mean more jobs, less layoffs and a better economy. I am enjoying the horsepower wars being rekindled, especially with the camaro, mustang and challenger.

If I fall face first in to some money the first thing I would buy is a Challenger. Tough looking.

That's interesting, because it's the last thing I would buy.

I strongly suggest you go get yourself checked out by a good Doctor. Having been self-employed in the insurance claims business and retired after 43 years, I have seen too many people pay more attention to their vehicle than to themselves. The adrenalin rush hangs around a few days or more then, later, sometimes weeks or months, you realize you have been injured. Don't take a chance, get an exam, the negligent operators insurance carrier will pay for the exam. Good luck.

I'm with you. Of the three, it mimics the original the best. It took me a little while with the camaro, but it has grown on me. I like how ford went back to the 5.0 eventhough it is a totally different motor. I love how the early 5.0s sound thru flowmasters.

Thank you I did. Except I didn't fall face first into money, we just saved for it. I like the Mustangs, but the Camaro's have yet to grow on me.

The Camaro to me is just ugly. Especially doors back. The front end is ok. My dad had one as a rental when we took in his Vette. Its had cheapy interior and was full of blind spots.

The Mustang is a good buy for the money and that new motor with all the HP is nice but the styling is just a bit dated.

The Challenger seems timeless with a nice motor.

Ok, absolutely, positively, guaranteed completion of Feb. 23. The body shop said that there was significantly more damage to the cab than anticipated. Also, the truck had been keyed from the front edge of the driver's door to the tail light a couple of years ago and I had never had it repaired, and decided to have them take care of that for a charge to me of about $100-150 since they would be refinishing about half of the bed anyway. Rental charge on the F-150 will be about $1500, repair bill will probably be close $6000 if not higher. :confused2:

Man, this is getting long winded. They probably could have totaled the truck and been even with ya. Just kidding, its worth about $11,000 but its getting close. Assuming 2 wheel drive, 60,000 miles, SLT, small V8, auto tranny.

Probably a ploy by Ford to keep you in that F-150 and make you want one. Well, that's what some on here will claim.

Really though, nearly 2 months is crazy. I feel for you. I know I would be livid.

44k miles, 4x4. Since I have a firm completion date now I'm not bothered by the term. Insurance is paying for everything, so it's not costing me anything. As for it being a plot by Ford, well, the body shop is owned by a dealership network that sells every brand of truck built. The dealership that I purchased this truck from is offering rebates and discounts of about $9000 on 2020 and 2011 Dodges, so if I were to get trade fever, that would likely be the route I would take. There's a silver 4 door 4x4 on their lot now.

I was just joking about the Ford ploy thing.

I would not have guessed it was a 4x4 from the pictures. Looks to sit awful low to me. Must just be the pics. With only 44K on it I would want it fixed also. One thing is for sure you do not have to worry about the quality of the work or rushing the job. They have took plenty of time. I guess its not really 2 months but more like 6-7 weeks but still long enough.

I am just glad you are getting a truck to use while you are being inconvenienced. They tried to give me a Geo Metro back in 98 when a county plow truck hit my F-150. No way. I had to raise heck but ended up getting a truck. I told them I bought a truck, not a Metro. I want something equal or better while its being fixed.

I see you have a thing for silver also. I have had 2 Silver F-150's and a few silver cars from Ford, Honda, and GM. Easy to keep clean looking.

Is it possible that the silver color had anything to do with the accident?

We have had a couple silver cars & trucks in the family and it seems like people just can't see them. It had been especially prevolent with my wife's Beetle, so when we bought a new car for her it was a red SUV. Not as much people pull out in front of her now.

Wellllll, it was nearly dark and I had my headlights on, so color probably wasn't a factor.;)
