Car ran a stop sign and caught me on the driver door. It really doesn't look as badly damaged in the pic as it really is.

I'm surprised how well that step bar did. Did the bumper go under it and the hood go over it and into the door? Hopefully nobody was hurt. The next time you head out I would suggest going for the Porterhouse over the T-bone.

The step bar is bent down about 4 inches or so. The car that hit me was a 2003 Audi A6. I think the step bar went under the bumper. The impact was pretty hard, it knocked me sideways and in regaining control I crossed 2 lanes of traffic. By some miracle, there was a traffic break in the oncoming lanes. No injuries but I'm extremely sore today. Initial estimates are $5-7k, the dealer's body shop looked at it at 11 this morning and still hasn't completed their estimate. I actually prefer Ribeye. :licking:

Glad you are ok. Looks like minor damage but its going to cost to fix it and do it right. The main issue is the cab corner. It will be every bit of $5000.

The damage is actually worse than it appears in the photo. The cab is buckled slightly, hard to explain and I haven't taken any more photos.

Initial estimate is $4400, body shop assured me the final total would be higher. No frame damage, other driver is insured (we have the same ins co.), everything progressing quickly.

Glad your allright. My guess is that when everything is said and done the pricetag will be $10K. My spouse and I had a head-on collision in her Acura MDX several years back on I-91 in MA. Estimate was $12K. Two months later it was finished at a $23K pricetag. The good news was that no one was hurt and my spouse's MDX was put back together better than new. Still have the car which just turned 8 yrs old. When your's is back together there's a good chance it will be as good as new.

From years of fixing stuff like that, I can tell that was a really hard hit....

Good part is that you're OK. Trucks can be fixed or replaced..

Not so easy with people.

Glad to hear there are no repair hassles...The shops are generally really good nowadays.

My family experienced the same thing a few months ago.

The car was T-boned by a Buck-'mobile'. The 'driver' did $4,600 worth of damage, and he had NO insurance.

He was kind enough to work something else out with us in lieu of monetary remuneration, himself.

High dollar 'burger', but sure it tastey!

How do you like it compared to your Dodge?

Chris
Yeah that's a fair comparison. Hey, how much better is that $30k 2011 F-150 crew cab compared to your 6 or 7 yr old reg cab truck...
I bet if that Ford was the one in the accident, it would have been totaled.

My Dodge is a 2007, the F150 is a 2010. The Dodge has the 4.7L V-8, the Ford is a 4.6. Overall, the Ford is more comfortable and feels more stable on the highway. My Dodge is rather bouncy, but it is a regular cab short box. No doubt the Ford benefits from the longer wheelbase and additional weight of the SuperCrew configuration. Powerwise, I really don't notice any significant difference. The transmission gearing of the Ford is much better than the Dodge. The Dodge tranny allows at least 5 mph or more speed loss before downshifting on hills. Fuel mileage on the Ford is about 2 mpg better based on the first fillup.

Thanks for the honest comparison.

Any word on your truck?

Chris
