iseki tl3200, JD 450H dozer, LS XR4150, Genie Z34/22N lift
I did look to see if I could find any solid information on market share. Could not. So I thought that I would show a little member share on tractorbynet.
I only picked some of the tractors. I added LS because I own an LS.

Tractor Posts Percent Viewing Percent
Kubota 543,298 43% 734 39%
John Deere 256735 20% 439 23%
New Holland 129837 10% 279 15%
Massey 68709 5% 179 10%
Mahindra 78437 6% 21 1%
Kioti 141980 11% 173 9%
LS 37185 3% 57 3%

I know the viewing numbers are a one time shot as when I looked at it and may not show what people are viewing other times of the day.
But the number of posts for the buying and operating are interesting. I thing that they do show the interest of the different tractors on this forum. And that may of may not reflect in the purchase of those brands. I would have loved for LS to go a lot higher. I love my tractor. It is also interesting to me at how low Mahindra is. I see no Kioti around my part of Alabama, but find it interesting at how good it shows. It has to be a good tractor to be talked and read about. I think that the Kubota and John Deere may not be far off from the market share of the people that read this forum. But no real proof.
It might be interesting to see these same numbers 6 months from now.

The numbers were in line, I thought.

What I found most interesting was your 450H. Never heard of such a thing. Was that the first 450 hydro model? Totally abandoning everything the 450 had been up to then?

...I thought that I would show a little member share on tractorbynet...

Where did you obtain the data ?...you only used actual members ??

450H is a 2003 John Deere 450H dozer.
The data is the number of posts at the time that I signed in on tractorbynet and the number viewing at the time. Posts are added for buying and operating. So some viewing may not be members and a lot of the posts may have been by the same members. I know that I do read the other brands of tractors, but I post more on my brand. Data is interesting but no real proof. Like I said I would love to see a member list and their brands of tractors, but impossible as some of us trade and/or sale at times. And we do have members on this forum that are not in North America. And a lot of tractor owners that are not on this forum.

I think the biggest question on market share "Is my tractor going to have parts in 10 to 15 years?"

Oh, come on. Talk some more about the Dozer.

A couple of things...if you use "guest" viewer numbers the data is flawed because a large majority of the "guests" are not real peeps...they're search engine and other bots...

For accurate data...(especially with public companies) LexisNexis and Edgar are some proven sources for insider information and actual market reports as well as annual reports etc...!

On you latter question...it's only a matter of time before there is some consolidation in the CUT/SCUT market...big fish eat little fish and it's only a matter of time before the smaller fry get acquired or go belly up...

Personally I think TBN should sponsor a contest to and see who guesses correctly on which of the current manufacturers are the first to go...IMO LS is close to the top of the list...other even lessor known brands have deeper roots and legacies etc...

Many of the players in the tractor market are very country/culture oriented (how racist is that?). I don't think you would see a japanese company take over a Korean one any time soon.

Mergers and acquisitions often make strange bedfellows...!

Like Branson being taken over by TYM. Both good tractors. And if one label goes away, does all the tractors that they make for other labels stop being made. I know that I saw that Branson made a lot of tractors painted green and shipped them to Japan for engines.

Tractor supply and business seems a lot like automobiles. Kubota and Kioti (Daedong) were in bed together until a falling out. Mitsubishi (Satoh) used to make tractors. They still make engines for a few brands and own stock in tractor brands. Does Yanmar still make John Deere compacts? It's convoluted.

I would argue, Kubota and Kioti were NEVER in bed together. Like a Kubota salesman told me a while back. People come in telling stories they heard of Kubota and Kioti founders being brothers. Amazing rubbish!

Years ago, John Deere was given the Hitachi sales for North America. They handle all sales of equipment and parts in North America. But not the rest of the world. Just as one dealer may sale more than one brand. A lot of customers still think that John Deere purchased the company Hitachi. The fact is John Deere excavators are made by Hitachi with green paint. They have been for years.

I never agreed to that kind of thinking. Buy someone elses machine (a competitor) just to round out your product line. Just complicates things and that's rarely good for the consumer. Maybe, just maybe good for the possibility of getting parts down the road though.

If a company has the ability to build more tractors, but not the distribution, sales, service or parts network why would they not build them for someone that does. If you have the network to sale but can purchase them cheaper than you can build them, why not build them somewhere else? John Deere has the network for all of the ag tractors. They now have a large network for construction and forrestry. Kubota has taken years, but have built their dealers up over time. Without parts, no service, without service no sales, without sales no tractors. When I was a kid, I never dreamed that tractors were make anywhere except the US or that I would ever buy anything except a John Deere.

LS goes back a ways, just not as LS. They've been Montana and LG for sure, and possibly others. I was brushed up on all that before I bought mine, but I have slept since then.

They also make New Holland compacts, so if they go anywhere, it may be a New Holland acquisition. Otherwise, I think they'll stay around. With my G3038, I can go to the New Holland store and buy any part (other than loader) for a same year Workmaster 40 and it's identical. I have both users manuals, and they just changed the logo at the top of the page, and the New Holland doesn't have a column of Korean writing in the parts diagrams.

And New Holland is part of the FCA (Fiat Chrysler) group, soon to be merged with PSA. FCA owns the Case Nd IH brands.
