Not 4 wheel drive,

One thing that may be unique is the bevel gear system. It looks like power is applied to the Kubota front wheels via an enclosed bevel gear. As opposed to an open u-joint configuration, I assume. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Or not

I believe John Deere has bevel gears too. I read about it in a few brochures.

Yeah, I wish JD would start utilizing the bevel gears in the smaller tractors, Dont get me wrong though, I think the X-series is a fine tractor. A bit of a subject change, How do you guys rate the kawi v-twin versus the 3-cyl yanmar diesel??

Kubota and agco both i believe have front differental locks on certian big models. Every 4wd tractor in small cat. is 3 wheel drive front drives one wheel and other 2 in rear you can lock.

What there talking about on the Constant power is the bevel gears provide constant transfer of power while turning as opposed to u-joints which have differences in speed/power. I've never heard of anything under 30 hp having locking front axles It'd be impractical for small tractors.
