I brought my CK20 HST in to do maintenance and jacked the front end up. I spun the tires by hand and the gears sound really loud. Is this normal?

Does spinning the tires on both sides sound the same? Are you in 4WD?

If it is just gear noise and not grinding, it is normal.

Spinning the tires on both sides sounds the same either direction. I just wasn't expecting it to be as loud as it was. Apparently that is normal.

You are probably hearing the front differential (if the other front wheel turns in opposite direction). The spider gears can be noisy (especially if straight cut gears). Normally, engine noise hides gear noises.

What is the fluid level. There should be a site glass on the axle tube. When I changed mine, spinning the axles produces some noise, but I would not call it loud. Just a clicking sound.
Hope this helps.

Kioti uses the hydro fluid for the front axle lube. This thinner oil might make the gears sound noisey compared to regular 80-90 gear oil.

The fluid level was showing normal in the site glass. When I've changed the fluid in the axle I've used hydro fluid since that was what was in there originally. Gear oil would probably make the gears sound quieter.

Thanks
