What is the best thing you have used to get rid of "no see ums" ?
I know I can't get rid of all of them but I would like to have my patio back.
These little pest travel in swarms early morning and late evening.
Is there a new device to buy and plug in that will deter them?
Is there an old fashion remedy such as buring a rag or sulfur in a bucket?

If ya can't see um, how do ya know when your rid of em:laughing:

Just kiddin', but truly, I would think that burning sulfer in a bucket would be a might unpleasant. Doesn't normal insect repellent work for these things?

and if you can't see-um how do you know their there in the first place:confused:
while we hang out around our deck and patio we use Citronella candles , The candles usually keep away most skeeters and flying insects, although not sure if it keeps away the can't-see-um's cause never can see-um in the first place,:D

Lots of different ways.:D

The best is to stay inside.:)

The next best is to have a screen enclosure on the Patio.

I was trying to avoid the body lotion stuff.
I live in the National Forest and they are always going to be here, I just thought if I could keep them off my 20X20 covered patio they could have the rest of the property.

I have seen electrical plug in devices, I just dont know for sure how effective they are?

I have some citronella candles, I will try that.

Just find a few old Soldiers and Marines..
I hear they are afraid of them...
Or so I was told by this recent graduate from Parris Island...

Years ago I surveyed a strech of highway that was infested with the no-see-ums(ours bite not sure if yalls do too). We tried all of the lotions, deet sprays, cigars, and anything else you can think of with out any relief. After a few weeks we started spraying WD-40 on our clothes/hair.....anywhere we could stand to spray it. We got very good results with the WD-40. I know that probablly wont help you in your situation. Good Luck

I'll second the citronella candles and rub in a little of Avon's "Skin so Soft". It always worked well for me in Savannah, Ga. I believe Savannah is the birthplace of the no-see-um LOL!

What about one of these Burgess insect foggers. I have the propane model and it will knock the snot out of mosquitoes for several hours. But with anything dealing w/insects, the results (outside anyway) are only temporary because others will take their place. Inside a screen porch it should do wonders

The most pleasant is a breeze. We don't have a problem as long as it's warm enough so the fan won't make you cold.

I use a fan or hope for a windy day- they come in right through the mesh of the screen. Stay covered!

We mixed Avon Skin so Soft and Rubbing Alcohol. The skin so soft kept them away, and the alcohol made the skin so soft less greasy.
