NH TC45D Starter sticking, etc

I have a NH TC45D with a hydrostatic trans. Recently the starter has been staying engaged after cranking the engine and occasionally it will re-engage after the engine is already running. Usually, if it stays engaged or re-engages, it will disengage when you put the trans in gear. If you then put it back into neutral, usually the starter will remain disengaged, but sometimes it will re-engage. Usually, if you turn the engine off and re-start it, the starter will remain disengaged. The starter recently re-engaged while I was warming up the tractor and briefly went inside - the starter stayed engaged long enough to burn it up (the starter, not the tractor thank God). - So, I have installed a brand new starter (with solenoid) and still occasionally run into the same problem with the starter re-engaging on its own. - Has anyone else had this same problem and what is the fix for this. I have checked wiring and gotten a few suggestions, but nothing thus far has fixed it.

Just a guess, but since you replaced the starter and solenoid, that leaves the key switch as another essential component to that loop. There have been numerous switch issues reported on here, although I don't remember any that were shorting and engaging the starter.

That is one of my guesses too and sounds reasonable. I am trying not to just throw parts at it until something works - some of the other suggestions have been off the wall and rather pricey..... Thanks Ford 850.
