Is there a reason to have independant height adjustment of the gage wheels?

Anyone put the gage wheels on an hinged axle and used a single height adjustment in the center?

I took a bit different approach and move both wheels at once--they are still adjustable from side to side through spacers. The entire thread detailing my RB and gauge wheel build is here.
