New XR Steering Problems Design Flaw?

The XR4046H I have will load 2000lbs on the loader with no problem and steer easily. Need a different dealer to look at. The dealer and their skill makes on the difference in this type of problem, like everything they very greatly. Snapped the front steering ear casting with a big load on the front hitting a stump did not see. Our dealer here in Upstate NY replaced it under warranty with no questions asked. 300 hrs and been very happy. Not sure how much change (other than engine) of XR41 series. Hope you can find a good dealer or contact factory.

Is that sitting still or moving?

I have never had an issue steering while moving but have had the issue when sitting still.

Well, don't know with big load but have moved big logs with grapple and turned when still or near still without a problem.

Never noticed any issues maneuvering still or very slow, will observe more next time moving large load

XR3037 that deals with full buckets of gravel in tight yards all the time and so far, it gets noisy sometimes but has always turned lock to lock with no troubles, over 300 hours of abuse.

Well this had a crazy resolution,,,
the dealer replaced the steering cylinders with bigger cylinders,,,

My XR3037HC has repeatedly picked up logs with an FEL grapple the weight of which was enough to counter water filled rear wheels. Have YouTube vids showing rear end elevation, too.

Talk about pucker factor?? It's a squirrelly feeling you get when the rears come up! I'm not proud of abusing my equipment, by any means, but it did happen.

Me? I'm a happy camper with the over the top performance of this brand. Further, I feel you had a very unusual situation that we're all happy was repaired by replacement hardware.
I'm just not so sure your dilemma is indicative of all the LS's.

Considering the lack of people having this problem it must have been an issue with this tractor. That said, putting larger cylinders on I think may be compensating for another issue somewhere else. I'm not sure I would have accepted this fix from my dealer.

Update: Moved large buckets full of bank run gravel and rock. The bucket was heaping full, so would estimate near 2000#, loader had no problem on the XR4046H with this. When at a full stop the steering would turn slightly but could not fully rotate wheels back and fourth to stops. Just the slightest movement of the front wheels allowed the steering to full rotate to stops. So don't feel this was a problem with maneuvering.

Seems like with heavy load the steering cylinders cannot generate enough pressure to fully turn under weight stopped but are just on the edge as slightest rotation of the tire (reduce friction) will allow steering movement to the stops.

The fix of bigger steering cylinders would make sense but do not feel this is a huge issue for me. Any thoughts?

Please describe what you mean by noisy. Once mine gets warmed up after a while it will make a vibration and noise from the steering. Dealer changed the hydraulic fluid and it was better for a bit.

I have had the same issue when I am lifting a max load with my XR4140 but lighter loads are not problem. I just get around it be making sure that I am moving when I turn the wheels.

Since this is my first tractor I didn't know if this was normal or not.

My XR4155 experience sounds similar to yours. I'm not sure what RPM i was running (could also play into it), but my steering will not go lock to lock while lifting close to max load. As soon as you touch the HST pedal and get the slightest movement it will easily go lock to lock so I don't see any issues with performance. It's probably not good to go lock to lock with a full load up front anyway...

Maybe some of the different experiences could be attributed to rear ballast weight or lack their of, but the guy in the YouTube videos definitely had some sort of issue. Picking up a set of pallet forks and going lock to lock is nothing for my tractor.
