Thank you all, this is the feedback I need to hear.

Here is some more info.
My present ztr is 60" with a 25hp KAW/gas. I have no compliants with it other than all I can do is mow and pull a lawn trailer. But I knew that when I made my initial choice, now I am rethinking and looking to possibly change the situation.
My lawn is no show piece, just big and open with some small trees we have planted. (The property was a pasture/hay field that was divided into tracts.)
We bought the house about 3 yrs ago from a guy that ran out of money building. Got a great deal but had a lot of work to do, mainly outside. There was zero landscaping/yard. Basically weeds and ruts, but I have addressed the major problems of that already with the in-laws tractor. Disc and grade job, then re-seeded about 1/2 of front yard, and immediate area behind house. In the fixed areas I can fly on the ztr, but the rest of the yard is like riding train tracks and much slower going. All in all it takes about 4 hrs to mow the entire thing and burns about 5 gal. of gas in the process.
I have been working on the landscaping and cleaning up the property too. I have been filing in ruts and ditches along drive and in yard, but that has been mainly lots of shovel work. I have also put 2 tri axles of fill dirt around the entire house to help correct my grade away (cousin has bobcat, BIG help there) and built a large deck on the back. Plus I am getting ready for a 30x40 shop building.
With all of that, I still have things I need or would like to do. That is why I am leaning to at least the B series tractors. The more I try comparing the models, I definitely need it to handle cat 1 equipment on the 3PH, but nothing crazy like a 15' seed drill. My father has a farm (@ 40 miles away) and with the father in-law, between the two I can get just about anything I could use implement wise. But I do hate borrowing stuff, and having to plan for when it could be convienent to get stuff and return it, especially with the weather and my work hours.
Thanks again

I bought a B7610 about a year ago. I have 3 acres which I mow and it sounds similar to your 5 acres, except I have some hills. I seriously considered a ZTR but I had a drive to maintain and I wanted to be able to do more. So I went with the cut. I absolutely love it. I can mow my three acres in about 2 hours. It used to take between 4 and 5 hours with my old tractor. I have used a ztr and I can tell you the tractor is much more comfortable to ride and you will find it won't take you much more time than with a ztr. I have bar turf tires on the back of mine and turf tires on front. They seem like a good compromise between turfs and R4s. They give a little more traction than regular turfs especially when using the loader. I think ztrs are great but if you can only have one piece of equipment go with the cut.

I had the same choice about a year ago. I went with the 7610. The price difference of $1000 dollars was worth the extra HP. I love my tractor. I just bought a 4 foot Woods cutter for it and I don't know about the rest of you out there but I would not wish to do heavy cutting/clearing with anything bigger.

If I had to buy today with the what I know now after over 100 hours on my tractor I would even look at the 7800 and my delima would be between the 7800 and the 7610.

BTW I paid $15000 for my tractor, FEL, 60 in MMM, and 4 foot BB.

Hope that helps.

Donald

I have had a B7500 for three years now with 400hrs on it. I use mine for many applications and many that should be done with a much larger piece of equipment but I don't have one of them just laying around.
If I knew then what I know now I would get something in the 28-30 hp class but for your application with 5 acres of flat terrain the B7610 would do great.
I have R4 tires with rears filled with liquid and slime in one ft. tire due to a Mesquite thorn and think they are great for my application.
I don't mow my ft lawn with my B7500 due to the size of the lawn area but I do use it for many other areas but I have alot of trees and with a 60"rmm it is a real pain, I don't have any experience with a mmm cause I have a frame support mount for a BH.
I would keep the ZTR though, I will be getting either a ZD or a F series mower in two years when I get the B7500 paid off.

Okay, busy weekend but I did get quite a bit of input from family and friends on my options. I also talked to my 2 closest Kubota dealers. (One was the previous quotes and gave me some new numbers) Plus with the input I have recieved from this post and my research I am really looking at the 7610 now and starting to lean on the 7800 if I could swing it with the books. I have eliminated the BX model since my requirements of 3ph equip. is a bit too much for it. I am still and looking to see what I can find.
Here is the quote info first
Dealer 1:
B7510 w/ FEL and 60"mmm = $13500
B7610 w/ FEL and 60"mmm = $14350
B7800 w/ FEL and 60" mmm = $17900
Dealer 2:
B7510 w/ FEL and 60"mmm = $14350
B7610 w/ FEL and 60"mmm = $15900
B7800 w/ FEL and 60" mmm = $18000
but priced all with R4 tires/filled.

I have also gotten quite a bit of input on keeping my ZTR and finding a small used tractor to do the other stuff. One good point is that with the Tobacco buyout settlement there are going to be a lot of small tractors on the market around here since many of the farmers will not need them anymore. I can't discount that option either. Just some of the models I have found already aren't shabby either.
Here are some examples of what I am finding, most of them are under 500 hrs or close to 1000.
:
Ford 1520 4wd w/ 60" mmm = $8500
JD 2040 w/ loader = $9500
JD 790 = $7900
Kubota L2350 w/ 60"rmm = $7900
JD 2040 4wd w/ loader = $7900
Koita LK3054 4wd = $7500
Kubota b7500hsd w/ 60"mower/ R4 tires $8500

Thanks again to everyone, your input has been very helpful so far.

Based on my recent pricing exercise, I think a new B7610 w/ FEL and 60"mmm @ $14350 is a scream deal, regardless of geographic region. I say pounce on it if you want new and are comfortable with that size tractor and dealer support. Plus, if using other people's money is any benefit to you, the 0%/24 mo. ends 3/31. You do, however, also seem to have some reasonably priced alternatives depending upon condition. Just boils down to how fat your wallet is I guess.

Sounds like you've done your homework, and had a very busy weekend. I agree w/ dholly, the dealer has given you a great price on the 7610 rig (based on my recent shopping experience). Now for the tough part...PULL THE TRIGGER!
Cheers, edski

Where is dealer 1 located? About $1000 lower than my best price I have found. Might be worth the drive from SE Missouri.

Here you go. I always check with them first and then see if I can find anyone else in their ballpark. They are very nice people and good to deal with, infact I bought my ZTR from them. I have returned for several other items in the last couple of years. (I try to price around to make sure I am giving myself the best option, but for anything I have purchased with them, no one else could beat their price.)

Here is their website: http://www.beardsope.com/

The Sales Manager's name is Henry and the owner is Dick Beard, either of these guys can take care of you. I think my first impression of Dick Beard is why I continue to go back with them, besides the best price. If I did find someone that would match his price, he would still get the business.

Hope it helps,

jheady -

Just an afterthought... I saw where the cheaper quote does not include filled tires. Don't know what it costs out your way, but it's about $200 dealer charge around here because they have to take them to a tire center. It might actually be a blessing in disguise. For example, a large percentage of my work hours will be mowing, and I'm somewhat concerned about spring lawn rutting even wiith the R4s. Since all the dealers in my area use calcium only, if I take delivery filled but need to dump because of lawn damage, I'd have a real problem. Many of the B7610's I found set up on the lots prepped for immediate delivery already had calcium loaded rears, and the dealers themselves didn't want anything to do with unloading them. So I've just decided to fill the rears myself with environmentally friendly WW fluid or RV antifreeze and they adjusted the price accordingly. Yes it's not as heavy for FEL work but, at less than $50 DIY and no headaches if I do decide to reverse and use the ballast box only, it makes sense for me. Your mileage may vary. Sounds like you're getting down to the wire now...
