Hi Guys,

Just wanted to give you a preview of the new user titles and icons that we will be implementing soon. All users will receive a badge under their username featuring a tractor as well as their member title. As the post count goes up, the tractor color changes.

Most levels will stay the same with the exception of the titles between 1,000 and 5,000 posts, which will now be 1 star - 5 star veteran member with a corresponding camouflage-painted tractor. :)

All members with 10,000 posts or more will receive the title of "old timer" (regardless of age ) and similarly, will receive 1 star - 5 star ratings based on post count. Additionally, as you progress in the ranks as an "old timer" your tractor will get equipment upgrades along the way---starting with a front-loader, then adding a backhoe, canopy and full cab enclosure.

As an added bonus, all "old timers" will receive a custom-painted tractor in their choice of color to match the tractor they own. We also will allow old timers to create their own paint job or select from any other color of the other icons (gold, platinum, camouflage) as well as a special red, white and blue USA-themed tractor.

Any thoughts or feedback is welcomed before we implement the new icons.

I like them all, don't misunderstand me. But you will get some static for handing out blue & red tractors for newbies and keeping the green ones for the two-star oldtimers.

Maybe we'll change the first two colors. ;)

I am a long way from getting a backhoe both on my real tractor and TBN icon.

Very nice. It's nice to see a identification system for those who give lots of advice. Or at least are very opinionated. :)7

I like it!

But you may need to offer a tractor shed for Bird to store all his implements.

Maybe it just me... but seems silly to do. I would rather see a rating system as the the quality of people's post vs. just sheer numbers. I'm glad you still have the "ignore" feature that we can use...

I agree that number of posts is not necessarily related to quality of posts. So I'll agree with you. . . . if you can come up with a good way to rate "quality" of posts. Personally, I don't know how that could be done.

That means if I don't need a back hoe I'll have to stop posting before I hit 30,000. Well at that rate I'll have to live to be 97.

It would be interesting to see if there was a way to score a poster by input from members. For example if we could vote on categories or nominate someone for a particular "merit badge" it might be fun. Like "super mechanic" or "hydraulic expert" or "welding expert" or whatever. That way we could see who really offers the most "help" to others vs guys like me that just ramble on and have fun!:D

Some of the "red" tractors aren't going to turn "pink" if I use my laptop in the sun are they ? :D

I'm sure whatever you do will be OK, just keep it simple.

That would be nice and then also have the "Rambler" Area for guys like us!!!

I also agree, we call this "post whoring" on other message boards. Quantity does not equal quality. I could have 2000 posts in the college football thread, that doesn't mean that I'm a helpful member of the community. A few of the other message boards I frequent have "reputation points" that you earn when somebody likes the quality or topic of your post. The more rep points you have and the longer you're a member the more points you earn and then can give to others who are valued members or offer some great help.

Regardless, I really enjoy this board, and many people here have been extremely helpful.

Are you still doing this?

I opt for no change, the simple nature of TBN without the ratings, merits, and flashy graphics attempting to add valuation to the poster is not needed. IMHO. If you hang here long enough, you figure out who adds value and whose advice is sound.
