New trailer, ready for work!

I've shown this elsewhere on the forum recently, but thought I'd post it officially in the correct forum.
18' of flat deck, +2' of dovetail, 10,000lbs. rated. I'm extremely happy with how it tows with L2800 (with loader and hoe), 6' boxblade on the trailer, and the rake in the truck bed. With a bit of fiddling, I'm sure I could fit the finish mower somewhere, or possibly the future rotary cutter.

Top and tilt is the very next thing on the list. The few side jobs I've done now all involved reshaping yards to redirect water, and getting off the tractor repeatedly to make adjustments is just frustrating. I'm utterly convinced that it'll be absolutely worth having.
Thanks, L39builder. This machine was purchased several years ago to remedy water issues on my own propery. Using it for side work was purely an afterthought. I gave serious consideration to sizing up this year, but an extra family car comes first. If work builds up, I'll look hard again at what my needs will be and adjust accordingly

Familyman,

Don't take this wrong , but you aren't binding that down the best way.

In the picture, you show the front chain hook, hooking the bottom of the tie down location. You should run the chain up thru it and then the hook rests on the TOP edge. Gravity will be your friend and keep the hook from falling off. Remember, if you let go of the hook and it falls off, you need to change how you are doing it.

Your way, if the load shifts and the chain loosens, it will release from the bind point completely and the tractor could slide off of the trailer. My way, even if the chain is very loose the hooks are still attached to the trailer and the tractor can't move very far.

I also don't like the loop in the other chain around the bind point for the same reason. Use those bind point to attach the chain hooks, take out the slack in the chain around your binders. I also don't like the snap over noggin knockers, but that's personal preference - they work fine.

nice trailer man, i need one of those i think i was quoted close to 3k for a 10k 20' flatbed like that. for now my grapes of wrath trailer is doing good.
I think i will get an enclosed trailer and take pictures of it and tell TBN my tractors in there so they wont tell me i forgot to flip the seats foreward on the backhoe and lower the rops for transport, lol

This trailer was closer to $4k. It's a 12k titled at 10k. The width is 6'6" between the fenders.

Nice setup ! I've been lightly browsing at new deckover trailers,similar in size. Somehow i don't think i'm gonna get that one past Whats-Her-Name, since i just got the dump six months ago. But.... it won't stop me from trying.

Workin...... I half think an enclosed trailer is the way to go anyway. Out of sight, out of mind !

I didn't get the seat flipping either. Then again my hoe has it's own seat - a bass boat swivel seat. Same as the tractor. Hey, the originals were shot, shot, shot again then run over and drug down a gravel road and I had two extra seats sitting around...

I had my trailer tagged at 10k then last renewal upped it to 12k. It was fine for my kubota with implements, but needed the extra for the Ford Backhoe. Although your trailer does have a "5 Ton" tag on it....

I swear I gotta get my tags done in a different state....I been in the truck & trailer "business" for a long time, and I can't "up" a truck or trailer and get it past Harrisburg without an MV-41, signed & reviewed with photographs and a lot of waiting.

NY state is just as bad to register. I have one trailer registered here and my second one in another state. One year in NY costs more than 7 years in another state.

NY is $50. just to transfer a title, plus over $60 a yr. for a 7K trailer registration plus state annual inspection fee.
The 2nd, a 12K gooseneck is registered in another state and was just over $100 for 7 yrs. for the reg. and no inspection.

workingallthetime mentioned a quote of 3K for a 10K 20' trailer. I only wish that was the price in NY. You'd be lucky to find a 7K for that price here. I priced trailers for 6 months in NY before driving to PA to buy my 20' tiltbed. It was 1500 cheaper there. I can't understand why trailer dealers ask so much for them here. Maybe no one builds trailers here and the dealers add the cost of shipping 6 trailers at a time to each one they sell.

Don't feel too bad. WI is $55 for 10k and $80 for 12k. No inspection.

On the bright side, trailers 3500# and down don't need a plate !
Boat trailers of any size don't need a plate !

Everything here needs a registration and plate. 4 wheelers, snowmobiles, all trailers, mopeds, etc. This state is driving out residents and businesses with all the fees and taxes.

Yeah, that must really draw a large negative pressure differential.

It's nice being in a predominately farming state and in a rural area of that state. (Outside of the high high high taxes)

I needed a utility trailer and got steel, torsion axles and melted one up. No muss, no fuss, no tags, no inspection. Yikes@! scared me a bit.

HUH ???? No plates needed on a trailer? Sheepdip ! Was like a hundred and a half for my #7000 dump trailer PLUS it has to be inspected annually. Amazing the tax difference from one state to another, eh???

Same here in British Columbia, Canada (I live in Kamloops).... EVERYTHING needs a licence plate.... Even those 1 yard concrete trailers from the redi-mix place needs one... however, they did change something on the commercial semi trailers this year... it's now a 1 time registration/licencing fee.... buy 1 sticker for life....
