Last year about this time I bought a used home made backblade. It worked ok but you could tell it was home made, not the right holes for the angles etc. It was heavy 7 ft made out of ½ inch steel plate. Well a few days ago I scooped up a used one from Craigslist. I was the first one to call, got it for only $100.00. :D Tried it out today and it works very well, enjoyed my seat time doing our road. Here are a few pics of it working away, the good thing is I don't have to repaint it, already came orange.
It is lighter weight than the other one, more weight is better???

Nice work:thumbsup: I noticed you have 6 foot box blade, how did it work for road maintenance.

That was a steal with that offset feature. Talking about doing some serious side ditching you got the blade.

The boxblade is what I usually use for the road. There are a couple of areas that tend to go wavy on me. Have tried different ways to get rid of that. With the backblade I can now cut across the high spots, by angling the backblade, to get the road level.

Nice blade. It doesn't look like it angles. But, you can always to that with your 3ph arm adjustment. Love the offset design. I have a woods and in order to offset it, you have to unbolt the whole blade and move it over. Quite the PITA.

Looks like a good deal there, Mouse', and a smooth job on the road. I do not know much about back blades, so someone else will have to answer the question about weight. That one looks hefty enough to move some dirt, so that is about all you need. Great to be able to work at good angle. My favorite toy as a kid was one of those yellow road scapers like the county used to smooth the dirt roads out in the rural areas.

Regarding the use of a box blade for the same work, I use the BB since that is all I have. I am still learning on it, but have achieved some good results. Question: On the 3pt hitch on my CK30, there are some holes in the holding arm. Can one side be shorthened or lenghtened enough to get some angle on the box blade?

This new blade does angle, 5 positons :D and can be turned backwards. The home built 7 ft I got last year could not be turned backwards. I will be putting this one up for sale today.

Not 100% certain but don't think they are designed to be used at an angle.:(

I mean angled relative to the grading plane. Thus, allowing you to mound/trench. Most such blades angle left/right/all-the-way-round as well as up/down to one side or the other. They can be adjusted 2 axes. I don't see how your blade supports up/down grading angle adjustment; it's simply flat relative to the plane the tractor is setting on. A lot of blades are like this. In such cases the angle can be adjusted by changing the length of the right 3PH arm using the crank handle on it.
