3-Point Hitch new point not operating

Ok so prob a dumb question but ive had my JD 6140 D for a year now but never used the 3 point hitch till today, and it will not operate, ive gone through the manual and cant seem to figure out what im missing. its a manual 3 point hitch adjustment not electric. so for first time user on 3 point is there something i need to remove or change to get my 3 point operating? i did turn the 3 valves in back of cab window to the 3 point position. and i did step on the unlock lever on the floor, but still no action

If it is like most tractors, the only down force is gravity. The hitch moving points may be stuck from non-use.

Try to add weight somehow. Maybe some boards across the arms with heavy stuff piled on.
